2. Vehicle Compatibility

The BOSCH BP976 QuietCast Premium Organic Disc Brake Pad Set is designed for the FRONT axle of select vehicles. Please verify specific vehicle fitment details with a fit checker or your vehicle's manual, as trim level and engine may affect compatibility.

Compatible Vehicles:

  • LEXUS: 2010-2017 GX460, 2003-2009 GX470
  • TOYOTA: 2003-2017 4Runner, 2007-2014 FJ Cruiser, 2005-2017 Tacoma
  • TOYOTA (Special Note): 2002-2007 Sequoia, 2002-2006 Tundra. For these pre-2003 Sequoia/Tundra models, BP976 only fits if a Toyota Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) was performed that replaced original smaller S13WE calipers (4.7 inch pads) with larger 13WL calipers (5.3 inch pads). The part number can typically be found on the inboard side of the caliper.

3. What's in the Box

Each BOSCH BP976 QuietCast Premium Organic Disc Brake Pad Set includes the following components for one axle (two wheels):

  • Four (4) Disc Brake Pads
  • Hardware Kit (where applicable for specific vehicle models)
  • Synthetic Lubricant packet for sliding contact points

4. Installation Guide

Proper installation is crucial for optimal performance and safety. If you are not experienced with brake system maintenance, it is recommended to seek professional assistance.

General Installation Steps:

  1. Safety First: Ensure the vehicle is securely lifted and supported on jack stands. Remove the wheel.
  2. Remove Old Components: Carefully remove the old brake pads and any associated hardware. Inspect the brake calipers, rotors, and other components for wear or damage.
  3. Rotor Preparation: Bosch QuietCast rotors are coated and do not require cleaning or wiping down to prevent rust. They are ready for immediate installation out of the box.
  4. Install New Hardware: If a hardware kit is included, replace the old clips and shims with the new ones provided. Apply the synthetic lubricant to the sliding contact points as directed.
  5. Install New Brake Pads: Insert the new Bosch BP976 brake pads into the caliper assembly. Ensure they are seated correctly and move freely.
  6. Reassemble: Reinstall the caliper, ensuring all bolts are torqued to the manufacturer's specifications. Reattach the wheel and lower the vehicle.
  7. Brake System Check: Before driving, pump the brake pedal several times until a firm pedal is achieved. Check the brake fluid level and top off if necessary. Perform a test drive in a safe area to ensure proper braking function.

5. Operation and Performance

Once properly installed, the Bosch BP976 QuietCast Premium Organic Disc Brake Pads are designed to provide a smooth, quiet, and responsive braking experience. The organic friction material and molded shim technology work together to minimize noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH) during braking.

Expect consistent stopping power and a comfortable pedal feel under various driving conditions. The pads are formulated to match OE friction types, ensuring your vehicle's braking characteristics are maintained or improved.

6. Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your Bosch QuietCast brake pads, consider the following maintenance points:

  • Regular Inspection: Periodically inspect your brake pads and rotors for wear, damage, or unusual noise. Consult a professional mechanic if you notice any issues.
  • Lubrication: The included synthetic lubricant should be applied to caliper sliding pins and other contact points during installation to ensure smooth movement and prevent sticking.
  • Low Dust Formula: The organic friction material is designed for low dust production, helping to keep your wheels cleaner.
  • Corrosion Resistance: The powder-coated backing plate on the brake pads and the coated QuietCast rotors offer enhanced resistance to rust and corrosion, extending their lifespan.

7. Troubleshooting

While Bosch QuietCast brake pads are designed for quiet and reliable performance, occasional issues may arise. Here are some common concerns and potential solutions:

Common Issues:

  • Brake Noise (Squealing/Grinding):
    • Cause: Improper installation, lack of lubrication on contact points, worn or damaged hardware, or issues with other brake system components (e.g., rotors, calipers).
    • Solution: Ensure all hardware is correctly installed and lubricated. Verify that the brake pads are seated properly. Inspect rotors for uneven wear or damage. If noise persists, professional inspection is recommended.
  • Vibration or Pulsation During Braking:
    • Cause: Warped rotors, uneven pad wear, or loose wheel bearings.
    • Solution: Bosch QuietCast rotors are 100% balanced to prevent vibration. If vibration occurs, inspect rotors for warping or damage. Ensure lug nuts are torqued correctly, as over-torqued lug nuts can cause rotor issues.
  • Reduced Braking Performance:
    • Cause: Air in the brake lines, contaminated brake fluid, worn pads, or issues with the master cylinder or calipers.
    • Solution: Check brake fluid level and condition. Bleed the brake system if air is suspected. Ensure pads are not excessively worn. Consult a professional for diagnosis.
