Safety Instructions
To prevent injury or damage, always observe the following safety precautions:
- Use on a Stable Surface: Always place the fondue set on a flat, stable, heat-resistant surface away from flammable materials.
- Adult Supervision: Never leave an active fondue set unattended. Keep children and pets away from the unit during use.
- Hot Surfaces: The fondue pot and burner will become extremely hot during use. Use oven mitts or heat-resistant gloves when handling. Do not touch hot surfaces directly.
- Fuel Handling: Use only approved fondue fuel. Follow the fuel manufacturer's instructions for filling and lighting. Never add fuel to a hot burner. Ensure the burner is completely cool before refilling.
- Ventilation: Ensure adequate ventilation when using fondue fuel, especially with open flames.
- Oil/Liquid Safety: When using oil for fondue, be aware of splattering. Do not overfill the pot. Keep water away from hot oil.
- Extinguishing Flame: Always use the burner cover to extinguish the flame. Do not blow out the flame.
- Storage: Allow all components to cool completely before cleaning and storing.
Setup
- Unpack Components: Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Inspect for any damage.
- Initial Cleaning: Before first use, wash the fondue pot, lid, ramekins, and forks in warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry completely.
- Assemble Base: Place the base with stand on a stable, heat-resistant surface.
- Position Burner: Insert the fuel holder into the designated slot in the base. Place the burner into the fuel holder.
- Fill Fuel Holder: Following the fuel manufacturer's instructions, fill the fuel holder with appropriate fondue fuel. Do not overfill. Ensure the burner is cool before adding fuel.
- Place Fondue Pot: Carefully place the fondue pot onto the base, ensuring it sits securely.
- Arrange Ramekins: Place the lazy susan on your serving surface, then arrange the 6 ceramic ramekins on it for sauces or dippers.
Operating Instructions
- Prepare Fondue Mixture: Prepare your desired fondue (cheese, chocolate, oil, broth) in a separate pot on a stovetop if it requires initial heating. Transfer the hot mixture to the fondue pot. Do not fill the fondue pot more than two-thirds full.
- Light the Burner: Using a long match or lighter, carefully ignite the fuel in the burner.
- Adjust Flame: Use the burner cover to adjust the flame intensity. Slide the cover to partially or fully expose the flame opening to control heat. A smaller opening reduces heat, a larger opening increases it.
- Dipping: Use the provided fondue forks to dip food items into the hot fondue mixture. Ensure food is cooked thoroughly if using oil or broth.
- Extinguishing Flame: When finished, carefully place the burner cover completely over the flame opening to extinguish the flame. Do not blow out the flame. Allow the burner and pot to cool completely before handling.
Cleaning and Maintenance
Proper cleaning and maintenance will extend the life of your fondue set.
- Cool Down: Always allow the entire fondue set to cool completely before attempting to clean any part.
- Empty Contents: Carefully dispose of any remaining fondue mixture or oil. For oil, allow it to cool and solidify before discarding.
- Disassemble: Separate all components: pot, lid, base, fuel holder, burner, ramekins, and forks.
- Washing:
- Stainless Steel Parts (Pot, Base, Forks, Fuel Holder, Burner): Wash with warm, soapy water and a non-abrasive sponge or cloth. For stubborn food residue, soak in hot soapy water before cleaning. Rinse thoroughly and dry immediately to prevent water spots.
- Ceramic Ramekins and Lazy Susan: Wash with warm, soapy water. These are generally dishwasher safe, but hand washing is recommended for longevity.
- Drying: Ensure all parts are completely dry before storing to prevent rust or mildew.
- Storage: Store the fondue set in a clean, dry place.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Flame is too low or goes out. | Insufficient fuel; burner cover too closed; old fuel. | Refill fuel holder (when cool); adjust burner cover to open more; use fresh fondue fuel. |
| Flame is too high. | Burner cover too open. | Adjust burner cover to partially close the opening. |
| Food sticking to the pot. | Heat too high; insufficient stirring; incorrect fondue mixture. | Reduce flame intensity; stir fondue frequently; ensure proper fondue recipe consistency. |
