4. Installation

The iSpring WGB32B system is designed for DIY installation. Refer to the included user manual for detailed diagrams and safety precautions. It is recommended to install the system at the main water supply line entering your home.

4.1 Pre-Installation Steps

  1. Turn off Water Supply: Locate and turn off the main water supply valve to your home.
  2. Relieve Pressure: Open the nearest cold water faucet to drain water from the pipes and relieve pressure.
  3. Gather Tools: Ensure you have all necessary tools and fittings, including a pipe cutter, adjustable wrench, plumber's tape, and a bucket.

4.2 Applying Plumber's Tape

Proper application of plumber's tape (thread seal tape) is crucial to prevent leaks at threaded connections. Apply 6-8 wraps of tape in a clockwise direction to all male pipe threads. Ensure the threads are clean and free from debris before application.

Video 4.1: How to Apply Plumber's Tape Correctly - Step by Step. This video demonstrates the correct method for applying plumber's tape to threaded fittings to ensure a watertight seal.

4.3 Mounting the System

Choose a suitable location for the system, preferably near the main water inlet and a drain. The system should be mounted to a sturdy surface, such as wall studs, using appropriate hardware. The black metal bracket provided is designed for secure mounting.

4.4 Connecting to Plumbing

Cut into your main water line and install the system. Ensure the water flow direction matches the arrows on the system's manifold. The inlet should be on the right and the outlet on the left when facing the system. If your plumbing requires a different flow direction, the housing caps can be reoriented (refer to the "WGB and WCB Series Flow Direction" video).

4.5 Flushing the System

After installation, slowly turn on the main water supply. Open a nearby cold water faucet and let the water run for at least 10 minutes to flush out any carbon fines or air from the system. Check for any leaks during this process.

5. Operation

Once installed and flushed, your iSpring WGB32B system will continuously filter all water entering your home. The system maintains healthy minerals in your water, unlike reverse osmosis systems which remove Total Dissolved Solids (TDS).

6. Maintenance & Filter Replacement

Regular maintenance and timely filter replacement are essential for optimal system performance and water quality. The filters should be replaced approximately every 100,000 gallons or annually, depending on your water quality and usage.

6.1 Filter Replacement Steps

  1. Shut off Water Supply: Turn off the main water supply to the system.
  2. Relieve Pressure: Press the red pressure release button on top of each filter housing (if applicable) to relieve pressure. Open a nearby faucet to further release pressure.
  3. Unscrew Housings: Use the included filter housing wrench to unscrew the filter housings counter-clockwise.
  4. Remove Old Filters: Carefully remove the old filter cartridges and dispose of them properly.
  5. Clean Housings: Clean the inside of the filter housings with warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly.
  6. Insert New Filters: Unwrap new filter cartridges. Ensure the filter center holes slip over the center knob in the bottom of the housings. Apply food-grade silicone lubricant to the housing O-rings and ensure they are properly seated to prevent leaks.
  7. Re-tighten Housings: Hand-tighten the housings clockwise onto the housing caps. Use the filter wrench to tighten another quarter to half turn. Do not overtighten.
  8. Restore Water Supply & Flush: Slowly turn on the main water supply. Open a nearby cold water faucet and let the water run for at least 10 minutes to flush out any carbon fines or air. Check for leaks.
