Operating Instructions

Making Espresso

  1. Fill Water Reservoir: Fill the glass carafe with the desired amount of cold water (up to 4 cups). Pour this water into the machine's water reservoir. Securely close the water reservoir cap.
  2. Add Ground Coffee: Place the filter basket into the filter holder. Using the measuring spoon, add finely ground espresso coffee to the filter basket. For a single shot, use one level spoon; for a double shot, use two. Do not overfill. Lightly tamp the coffee if desired.
  3. Attach Filter Holder: Attach the filter holder to the machine by aligning it with the slot and turning it firmly to the right until it is securely locked.
  4. Position Carafe: Place the glass carafe with its lid under the filter holder.
  5. Brew Espresso: Plug in the machine. Turn the steam knob to the "Brew" position. The indicator light will illuminate, and the machine will begin to heat the water and extract espresso into the carafe.
  6. Stop Brewing: Once the desired amount of espresso has been brewed (refer to the markings on the carafe), turn the steam knob to the "Off" position.
  7. Serve: Carefully remove the carafe and serve your fresh espresso.

Frothing Milk

The frothing nozzle allows you to create steamed milk and foam for cappuccinos and lattes.

  1. Prepare Milk: Fill a metal frothing pitcher with cold milk (dairy or non-dairy) up to about one-third full.
  2. Heat Machine: After brewing espresso, or if starting fresh, ensure the water reservoir has water and the machine is plugged in. Turn the steam knob to the "Steam" position (usually indicated by a steam cloud symbol). The indicator light will illuminate. Allow the machine to heat up until steam is consistently produced from the nozzle.
  3. Purge Nozzle: Briefly open the steam valve to release any condensed water from the nozzle into an empty cup. Close the valve.
  4. Froth Milk: Immerse the frothing nozzle just below the surface of the milk in the pitcher. Slowly open the steam valve. Move the pitcher up and down to incorporate air and create foam. Once the milk reaches the desired temperature and consistency, close the steam valve.
  5. Clean Nozzle: Immediately after frothing, wipe the frothing nozzle with a damp cloth to prevent milk residue from drying. Briefly open the steam valve again to clear any milk from inside the nozzle.

Cleaning and Maintenance

Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your espresso machine.

  • Daily Cleaning:
    • After each use, unplug the machine and allow it to cool.
    • Remove the filter holder and discard used coffee grounds. Wash the filter holder and filter basket in warm, soapy water.
    • Empty and clean the removable drip tray and grid.
    • Wipe the exterior of the machine with a damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads.
    • Ensure the frothing nozzle is clean after each use (as described in the "Frothing Milk" section).
  • Descaling: Over time, mineral deposits can build up in the machine, affecting performance. Descale your machine every 2-3 months, or more frequently if you have hard water.
    • Use a commercial descaling solution suitable for espresso machines, following the product's instructions.
    • Alternatively, you can use a solution of white vinegar and water (1 part vinegar to 2 parts water).
    • Run the descaling solution through the machine as if brewing espresso, then run several cycles of clean water to rinse thoroughly.

Troubleshooting

Problem Possible Cause Solution
No espresso brews. No water in reservoir; filter holder not properly attached; machine not heated. Fill water reservoir; ensure filter holder is locked; allow machine to heat up.
Espresso is too weak. Insufficient coffee; coffee too coarse; too much water. Increase coffee amount; use finer grind; use less water.
No steam from nozzle. No water in reservoir; nozzle clogged; machine not hot enough. Fill water reservoir; clean nozzle; allow machine to reach steaming temperature.
Water leaks from machine. Water reservoir cap not tightened; filter holder not properly attached. Ensure cap is securely tightened; re-attach filter holder firmly.

If the problem persists after attempting these solutions, please contact customer support.
