Setup

  1. Unpacking: Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Retain packaging for future storage or transport.
  2. Dust Bag Installation:

Ensure a disposable dust bag is correctly installed inside the canister. To check or replace, open the canister lid, align the bag collar with the intake port, and secure it firmly. Close the lid until it latches securely.

  3. Hose Connection:

Insert the flexible hose into the vacuum's intake port until it clicks into place. Ensure a tight seal for optimal suction.

  4. Accessory Attachment:

Attach the desired cleaning accessory (e.g., telescopic wand, floor nozzle, crevice tool) to the end of the flexible hose or telescopic wand. For the floor cleaning nozzle, ensure the appropriate setting (hard floor or carpet) is selected.

  5. Power Cord Management:

Unwrap the 30-foot power cord from the integrated cord wrap. Plug the power cord into a suitable 120V AC electrical outlet.

Operating Instructions

  1. Power On/Off:

Locate the power switch on the top of the vacuum unit. Press the switch to the "ON" position to start the vacuum. Press it again to the "OFF" position to turn it off.

  2. Carrying and Maneuvering:

The vacuum can be carried by hand using the top handle or worn over the shoulder using the included carrying strap for hands-free operation. Its compact size allows for easy maneuverability around furniture and in tight spaces.

  3. Using Accessories:
    • Telescopic Wand: Extend the wand for reaching high areas like ceilings, drapes, or for floor cleaning without bending.
    • Floor Cleaning Nozzle: Use for general floor cleaning. Adjust the setting for hard floors or carpets as needed.
    • Upholstery Tool: Ideal for cleaning furniture, car interiors, and stairs.
    • Dusting Brush: Use for delicate surfaces, blinds, lampshades, and bookshelves.
    • Crevice Tool: Perfect for narrow gaps, corners, and edges.
  4. Cleaning Tips:
    • For optimal suction, ensure the dust bag is not overly full and the filters are clean.
    • Avoid vacuuming large, sharp objects or liquids, as this can damage the vacuum or clog the hose/bag.
    • When cleaning delicate surfaces, test a small, inconspicuous area first.
  5. Cord Management:

After use, wrap the power cord neatly around the integrated cord wrap for compact storage.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your Oreck vacuum.

1. Dust Bag Replacement:

The vacuum uses disposable dust bags. Replace the bag when it is full or when suction power noticeably decreases. Overfilling the bag can reduce performance and potentially damage the motor.

  1. Unplug the vacuum from the power outlet.
  2. Open the canister lid.
  3. Carefully remove the full dust bag, ensuring the opening is sealed to prevent dust escape.
  4. Dispose of the full bag responsibly.
  5. Insert a new Oreck disposable dust bag, aligning the collar with the intake port and pressing firmly to secure.
  6. Close the canister lid securely.

2. Filter Cleaning/Replacement:

The vacuum is equipped with a rear exhaust filter. Check and clean this filter regularly to maintain air quality and suction.

  1. Unplug the vacuum.
  2. Locate the exhaust filter cover, typically at the rear of the unit.
  3. Remove the filter. Depending on the filter type (cartridge), it may be washable or require replacement. Refer to the filter's specific instructions.
  4. If washable, rinse under cool water until water runs clear. Allow to air dry completely for at least 24 hours before reinserting. Do not use heat to dry.
  5. If not washable or if heavily soiled, replace with a new Oreck compatible filter.
  6. Reinsert the clean/new filter and close the cover securely.

3. Hose and Accessory Cleaning:

Periodically check the hose and accessories for blockages or debris. Clear any obstructions to ensure proper airflow.

4. Exterior Cleaning:

Wipe the exterior of the vacuum with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
