Setup Instructions

1. Mounting the Radio

  1. Select a secure and accessible location for the radio unit, ensuring adequate ventilation.
  2. Use the provided mounting bracket as a template to mark drilling locations.
  3. Drill pilot holes and secure the mounting bracket using the supplied screws.
  4. Attach the radio unit to the mounting bracket.

2. Power Connection

  1. Connect the 10ft DC power cable to the radio's power input.
  2. Connect the red wire to the positive (+) terminal of a 12V DC power source (e.g., vehicle battery) and the black wire to the negative (-) terminal. Ensure proper polarity to prevent damage.
  3. It is recommended to connect directly to the battery terminals to minimize voltage drop and interference.

3. Microphone and Antenna Connection

  • Plug the HM-152 microphone into the designated microphone jack on the front panel of the radio.
  • Install the microphone hanger in a convenient location.
  • Connect a suitable VHF antenna (not included) to the antenna connector on the rear of the radio. Ensure the antenna is properly tuned for the operating frequency range.

Operating Instructions

1. Powering On/Off

  • To power on the radio, press and hold the Power button (usually marked with a circle and vertical line) until the display illuminates.
  • To power off, press and hold the Power button again until the display turns off.

2. Volume Adjustment

Rotate the Volume knob (typically the leftmost knob on the front panel) clockwise to increase volume and counter-clockwise to decrease it.

3. Channel Selection

  • Use the Up (▲) and Down (▼) arrow buttons to cycle through the available channels.
  • The radio comes with 5 channels pre-programmed. Additional channels can be programmed by a qualified technician.

4. Transmitting and Receiving

  • To transmit, press and hold the Push-To-Talk (PTT) button on the side of the microphone. Speak clearly into the microphone.
  • Release the PTT button to return to receive mode.
  • Ensure the channel is clear before transmitting.

5. Programmable Buttons (P0-P3)

The buttons labeled P0, P1, P2, and P3 are programmable and can be assigned various functions by a qualified technician, such as scan, monitor, or high/low power selection. Refer to your dealer for specific programming details.

Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the radio's exterior. Do not use harsh chemicals or solvents.
  • Connections: Periodically check all cable connections (power, antenna, microphone) for security and signs of wear.
  • Environment: Avoid exposing the radio to extreme temperatures, direct sunlight for prolonged periods, or excessive dust and moisture. The radio is not water resistant.
