2. Safety Information

Always prioritize safety when working with wood finishes. Adhere to the following guidelines:

3. Preparation

Proper preparation is crucial for achieving the best results and ensuring the longevity of the finish.

  1. Surface Condition: The wood surface must be clean, dry, and frost-free. It should be free from dirt, dust, grease, wax, and old flaking paints or varnishes.
  2. Sanding: Sand the wood surface thoroughly. For interior wood, a final sanding with P120-P150 grit sandpaper is generally recommended. For exterior wood, P80-P120 grit is often sufficient. Remove all sanding dust completely before application.
  3. Wood Type: Ensure the wood is suitable for oil-based finishes. For exotic or oily woods, a trial application on an inconspicuous area is recommended to check for adhesion and color.
  4. Stirring: Stir the OSMO One Coat Only HS-Plus thoroughly before use. Ensure all pigments are evenly distributed from the bottom of the can. Continue stirring periodically during application.
  5. Test Application: Always perform a test application on a small, inconspicuous area of the wood to assess color, adhesion, and overall appearance before proceeding with the entire project.

4. Application (Setup & Operating)

Follow these steps for optimal application of OSMO One Coat Only HS-Plus:

  1. Application Tools: Use a natural bristle brush, a microfiber roller, or an OSMO Floor Brush for larger areas.
  2. First Coat: Apply a very thin, even coat along the wood grain. Ensure the product is spread thinly and evenly. Remove any excess product immediately with a clean, lint-free cloth.
  3. Coverage: One liter of OSMO One Coat Only HS-Plus covers approximately 275 square feet (25 square meters) with a single coat, depending on the wood type and surface absorbency.
  4. Drying Time: Allow approximately 12 hours for drying under good ventilation and normal room conditions (approx. 23°C/50% relative humidity). Lower temperatures or higher humidity will extend drying times. Ensure the surface is completely dry before light use.
  5. Curing Time: The finish will be fully cured and hardened after approximately 2-3 days. Avoid heavy use or placing heavy objects on the surface during this period.
  6. Cleaning Tools: Clean brushes and tools immediately after use with OSMO Brush Cleaner or mineral spirits.
