Setup
1. Battery Installation

2. Initial Meter Setup

3. Accu-Chek FastClix Lancing Device Setup

- Insert Lancet Drum: Remove the cap from the lancing device. Insert a new lancet drum into the device. The drum will click into place.
- Replace Cap: Place the cap back onto the lancing device.
- Adjust Penetration Depth: Rotate the comfort dial on the cap to select a penetration depth. Start with a lower setting (e.g., 2 or 3) and adjust as needed to obtain a sufficient blood sample. There are 11 customizable depth settings.

Operating Instructions
Performing a Blood Glucose Test
Follow these steps for accurate blood glucose measurement:
- Prepare the Lancing Device: Ensure the FastClix lancing device is loaded with a lancet drum and the depth setting is appropriate. To prime the device, press the priming button until it clicks.
- Wash Hands: Wash your hands thoroughly with warm, soapy water and dry them completely. This helps prevent contamination and improves blood flow.
- Insert Test Strip: Remove an Accu-Chek SmartView test strip from its vial and immediately close the vial cap tightly. Insert the metallic end of the test strip into the meter. The meter will turn on automatically and display a flashing blood drop symbol.
- Obtain Blood Sample: Press the primed lancing device firmly against the side of your fingertip (or an approved alternate site if using non-fingertip testing). Press the release button to prick your skin. Gently squeeze your finger to form a small drop of blood.
- Apply Blood to Test Strip: Touch the tip of the test strip to the blood drop. The strip will draw the blood into the reaction area. Do not smear the blood.
- Read Results: The meter will count down and display your blood glucose result in approximately 5 seconds.
- Mark Results (Optional): The Accu-Chek Nano allows for pre- and post-meal markers. Use the meter's buttons to apply the appropriate marker to your result if desired.
- Dispose of Lancet and Strip: Eject the used test strip and advance the lancet drum in the FastClix device to the next fresh lancet. Dispose of used lancets and test strips safely in a sharps container or according to local regulations.
Non-Fingertip Testing
The Accu-Chek Nano SmartView system offers an option for non-fingertip testing (e.g., palm, forearm). Consult your healthcare professional before using alternate sites, as results from these sites may differ from fingertip results, especially during periods of rapid glucose change.
Maintenance
Cleaning the Meter
Clean the meter regularly to ensure proper function. Wipe the exterior of the meter with a soft cloth dampened with a mild cleaning solution (e.g., 70% isopropyl alcohol). Do not immerse the meter in liquid or spray cleaners directly onto it.
Storage
