4.7 Initial Power-On
After all components are installed and connected, plug in the power cord and press the power button on your computer case. The system should power on, and you should see a display on your monitor. If not, refer to the Troubleshooting section.
5. Operating Instructions
5.1 BIOS/UEFI Configuration
The BIOS (Basic Input/Output System) or UEFI (Unified Extensible Firmware Interface) is the firmware that initializes hardware during the boot process. To enter the BIOS/UEFI setup, press the designated key (usually DEL, F2, or F10) repeatedly during startup. Here you can configure boot order, system time, hardware settings, and more.
5.2 Driver Installation
After installing your operating system, it is crucial to install the latest drivers for your motherboard's chipset, integrated graphics (if applicable), audio, and network components. You can find these drivers on the Intel support website or on the provided driver CD/DVD.
5.3 Operating System Installation
Insert your operating system installation media (USB drive or DVD) and configure the BIOS/UEFI to boot from it. Follow the on-screen instructions to install your preferred operating system.
6. Maintenance
6.1 Cleaning
Regularly clean the interior of your computer case to prevent dust buildup, which can lead to overheating. Use compressed air to remove dust from fans, heatsinks, and vents. Ensure the system is powered off and unplugged before cleaning.
6.2 BIOS Updates
Intel may release BIOS updates to improve system stability, add support for new hardware, or fix bugs. Check the Intel support website periodically for the latest BIOS versions for your DQ77MK board. Follow the provided instructions carefully when performing a BIOS update to avoid system damage.
7. Troubleshooting
This section provides solutions to common issues you might encounter.
- No Power: Ensure all power cables (24-pin ATX, 8-pin CPU) are securely connected to the motherboard and power supply. Check the power supply switch and wall outlet.
- No Display (No POST): Verify that the monitor is connected and powered on. Reseat the graphics card (if applicable) and memory modules. Try booting with only one RAM stick. Check CPU installation and cooler connection.
- System Instability/Crashes: This can be caused by overheating, faulty RAM, or outdated drivers. Check CPU and GPU temperatures. Run memory diagnostic tools. Update all system drivers.
- Operating System Not Booting: Check the boot order in BIOS/UEFI. Ensure the storage drive with the OS is properly connected and detected.
- Peripheral Not Detected: Ensure the peripheral is correctly connected. Install necessary drivers. Try a different port or device to isolate the issue.
