2. Setup

2.1 Battery Installation

The GPX PC332B requires two (2) AA batteries (not included) for operation. Ensure batteries are inserted with correct polarity.

  1. Locate the battery compartment on the bottom of the unit.
  2. Slide the battery compartment cover open.
  3. Insert two fresh AA batteries, matching the (+) and (-) indicators inside the compartment.
  4. Close the battery compartment cover securely until it clicks into place.

2.2 Connecting Earbuds

The unit comes with stereo earbuds for personal listening. Plug the earbuds into the headphone jack located on the side of the player.

  • Insert the 3.5mm plug of the stereo earbuds firmly into the headphone jack.
  • Adjust the volume using the analog volume control dial on the side of the unit.

3. Operating Instructions

3.1 CD Playback

  1. Open the CD compartment lid by sliding the OPEN switch.
  2. Carefully place an audio CD onto the center spindle, label side up.
  3. Close the CD compartment lid firmly until it clicks.
  4. Press the PLAY/PAUSE button to begin playback. The LCD display will show the track number and elapsed time.
  5. To pause playback, press PLAY/PAUSE again. Press it once more to resume.
  6. To skip to the next track, press the SKIP+ button.
  7. To go back to the beginning of the current track or to the previous track, press the SKIP- button.
  8. To stop playback, press the STOP button.

3.1.1 Programmable Tracks

You can program up to 20 tracks to play in a specific order.

  1. In STOP mode, press the PROG button. The program indicator will flash.
  2. Use the SKIP+ or SKIP- buttons to select your desired track.
  3. Press PROG again to confirm the selection. Repeat for up to 20 tracks.
  4. Press PLAY/PAUSE to start programmed playback.

3.1.2 Anti-Skip Protection (ESP)

The player features 60-second Electronic Skip Protection (ESP) to prevent audio interruptions during minor bumps or movements. This feature is automatically active during CD playback.

3.2 FM Radio Operation

To switch to FM radio mode, ensure no CD is playing or the CD compartment is open.

  1. Slide the function switch to the FM RADIO position.
  2. Use the TUNE+ or TUNE- buttons to manually tune to your desired FM station.
  3. For automatic scanning to the next available station, press and hold TUNE+ or TUNE- for a few seconds.

3.3 Controls Overview

  • ESP (Electronic Skip Protection): Activates/deactivates skip protection (usually automatic).
  • PROG (Program): Used to program track order for CD playback.
  • STOP: Stops CD playback.
  • MODE: Cycles through playback modes (e.g., Repeat One, Repeat All, Random).
  • SKIP+ / SKIP-: Skips tracks forward/backward on CD; used for tuning FM radio.
  • PLAY/PAUSE: Starts or pauses CD playback.
  • TUNE+ / TUNE-: Used for tuning FM radio stations.
  • BBS (Bass Boost System): Enhances bass frequencies.
  • Volume Dial: Analog control for adjusting audio output level.
  • OPEN Switch: Releases the CD compartment lid.

4. Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your GPX PC332B Portable CD Player, follow these maintenance guidelines:

  • Cleaning the Unit: Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the exterior of the player. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Cleaning the Lens: If CD playback issues occur, the laser lens may be dirty. Use a specialized CD lens cleaner disc (not included) to clean the lens. Do not touch the lens directly.
  • Battery Care: Remove batteries if the unit will not be used for an extended period to prevent leakage and damage.
