4. Product Overview
The HJ-611B filter consists of a pump head, a filter media compartment, and an outlet system. The filter media compartment houses a standard activated carbon filter and a filter sponge, providing two stages of filtration.

5. Setup Instructions
5.1. Assembly
- Ensure the filter sponge and activated carbon cartridge are correctly placed within the filter media compartment. The filter media should be arranged from coarse to fine.
- Attach the filter media compartment to the pump head.
- Connect the pivotable outlet nozzle to the pump head. If aeration is desired, attach the air diffuser tube to the designated inlet on the nozzle.

5.2. Placement in Aquarium
- Attach the suction cups to the back of the filter unit.
- Mount the filter securely to the inside wall of your aquarium, ensuring it is fully submerged in water. The outlet nozzle should be positioned to create adequate water circulation.
- If using the air diffuser, ensure the air tube extends above the water surface.

6. Operating Instructions
6.1. Power Connection
Once the filter is correctly assembled and submerged, plug the power cord into a suitable electrical outlet. The pump will start operating immediately.
6.2. Flow Rate Adjustment
The filter features a slider on the pump head to adjust the water flow rate. Move the slider to increase or decrease the flow as needed for your aquarium's inhabitants and size.
6.3. Aeration Function
If the air diffuser tube is connected, the filter will draw air from above the water surface and release fine bubbles into the aquarium, providing additional oxygenation. Adjust the air intake for desired bubble intensity.

7. Maintenance
Regular maintenance is crucial for optimal filter performance and water quality.
7.1. Cleaning Filter Media
- Disconnect the filter from the power supply.
- Carefully remove the filter from the aquarium.
- Disassemble the filter by separating the pump head from the filter media compartment.
- Remove the filter sponge and activated carbon cartridge. Rinse the filter sponge thoroughly with old aquarium water (not tap water, as chlorine can kill beneficial bacteria) to remove accumulated debris.
- The activated carbon cartridge should be replaced every 2-4 weeks, as its adsorptive capacity diminishes over time.
- Reassemble the filter and place it back into the aquarium.
7.2. Cleaning the Pump Impeller
If the pump's performance decreases or it becomes noisy, the impeller may need cleaning.
- Disconnect the filter from the power supply.
- Remove the pump head from the filter housing.
- Carefully remove the impeller cover and then the impeller itself.
- Clean the impeller and its shaft with a small brush to remove any debris or mineral buildup.
- Reassemble the impeller and pump head, ensuring all parts fit correctly.
8. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Reduced water flow | Clogged filter media; dirty impeller; air in pump | Clean or replace filter media; clean impeller; ensure filter is fully submerged and free of air bubbles. |
| Filter is noisy | Impeller not seated correctly; debris in impeller chamber; air in pump | Check and reseat impeller; clean impeller chamber; ensure filter is fully submerged and free of air bubbles. |
| Filter not starting | No power; impeller jammed; damaged motor | Check power connection; clean impeller; if motor is damaged, contact support. |
