1. Introduction
The Polar H7 Heart Rate Sensor is designed to provide accurate, real-time heart rate data for your training sessions. It utilizes Bluetooth Smart technology to connect with compatible mobile training applications and GymLink technology for connection with compatible gym equipment. This manual provides essential information for setting up, operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting your Polar H7 sensor.

2. What's in the Box
Your Polar H7 Heart Rate Sensor package includes:
- Polar H7 Bluetooth Smart Heart Rate Sensor
- Soft Fabric Chest Strap (Medium/XX-Large)
- Replaceable Lithium Metal Battery (CR2025, pre-installed)
3. Setup
3.1 Wearing the Sensor
For accurate heart rate measurement, proper placement of the sensor is crucial:
- Moisten the electrode areas on the back of the strap with water. These are the two ribbed sections on the inside of the strap.
- Attach the connector module to the strap. Ensure the two snaps are securely fastened.
- Wrap the strap around your chest, just below your pectoral muscles. The heart rate sensor should be worn flat against the skin with the Polar logo in the upright position, centered on your chest.
- Adjust the strap length to ensure a snug but comfortable fit. It should not be too tight or too loose.

3.2 Initial Pairing
The Polar H7 sensor uses Bluetooth Smart for connectivity. It pairs with applications, not directly with your phone's Bluetooth settings.
- With Mobile Apps: Open your preferred compatible training app (e.g., Polar Beat, Polar Flow, RunKeeper, Runtastic, MapMyFitness). Navigate to the app's settings or sensor pairing menu. Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your mobile device. The app will typically detect the H7 sensor automatically when it's worn correctly. Follow the on-screen prompts within the app to complete the pairing process.
- With Gym Equipment: The H7 sensor also supports GymLink technology. Look for compatible gym equipment (treadmills, ellipticals, etc.) that display the Polar logo or indicate heart rate monitor compatibility. Simply wear your H7 sensor, and the equipment should automatically detect your heart rate.
4. Operating the Sensor
Once paired, the Polar H7 sensor will continuously transmit your heart rate data to your connected device or gym equipment. Ensure your mobile device is within range (typically up to 10 meters) for consistent data transmission.

5. Maintenance
5.1 Cleaning
Proper cleaning extends the lifespan of your sensor and strap:
- After every use, detach the connector module from the strap.
- Rinse the strap under running water.
- Hang the strap to dry.
- When needed, hand wash the strap gently with a mild soap and water solution. Avoid moisturizing soaps.
- Do not soak, iron, dry clean, or bleach the strap.
- Do not stretch the strap or bend the electrode areas sharply.
5.2 Storage
Store your Polar H7 sensor properly to maximize battery life and prevent damage:
- Store the heart rate sensor strap and the connector module separately.
- Keep the heart rate sensor in a cool, dry place.
- To prevent snap oxidation, do not store the heart rate sensor wet in non-breathable material.
- Do not expose the heart rate sensor to direct sunlight for extended periods.
5.3 Battery Replacement
The Polar H7 sensor uses a user-replaceable CR2025 Lithium Metal battery.

To replace the battery:
- Use a narrow key or coin to turn the battery cover counter-clockwise until it loosens.
- Carefully remove the old battery.
- Insert the new CR2025 battery with the positive (+) side facing upwards.
- Align the battery cover and turn it clockwise until it is securely closed. Ensure the O-ring seal is properly seated to maintain water resistance.
6. Troubleshooting
6.1 Connectivity Issues
- No Signal/Intermittent Connection:
- Ensure the electrode areas on the strap are sufficiently moistened.
- Verify the sensor module is securely snapped onto the strap.
- Check that the strap is snug against your skin and positioned correctly on your chest.
- Confirm Bluetooth is enabled on your mobile device.
- Close and restart the training application.
- Try turning your mobile device's Bluetooth off and on again.
- Reboot your mobile device.
- Check the battery level of the H7 sensor. A low battery can cause connectivity issues.
- Difficulty Pairing with App: Remember to pair the sensor within the app itself, not through your phone's general Bluetooth settings.
6.2 Inaccurate Heart Rate Readings
- Ensure the strap electrodes are moist and making good contact with your skin.
- Verify the sensor is worn correctly, centered on your chest with the Polar logo upright.
- Excessive movement or loose strap can cause inaccurate readings. Adjust the strap for a snug fit.
- Check for any strong electromagnetic interference in your environment.
