1. Introduction

This manual provides detailed instructions for the Silvercrest WE2300 World Receiver Radio Alarm Clock. This portable device features a digital clock with an alarm function and the ability to receive radio stations across multiple frequency bands, including FM, MW, and six Shortwave (SW) bands.

2. Safety Instructions

  • Read all instructions carefully before using the device.

5. Setup

5.1 Battery Installation

  1. Locate the battery compartment cover on the back of the radio.
  2. Slide or lift the cover to open the compartment.
  3. Insert two (2) AA 1.5V batteries, ensuring that the positive (+) and negative (-) terminals match the markings inside the compartment.
  4. Replace the battery compartment cover securely.

The radio requires 3V operating voltage, supplied by the two AA batteries.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1 Power On/Off

Press the POWER button to turn the radio on or off.

6.2 Setting the Clock

The device features a digital clock. To set the time:

  1. Press and hold the TIME SET button until the hour digits flash.
  2. Use the ADJUST or TUNING buttons to set the correct hour.
  3. Press TIME SET again to move to the minute digits.
  4. Use the ADJUST or TUNING buttons to set the correct minutes.
  5. Press TIME SET once more to confirm and exit time setting mode.

6.3 Setting the Alarm

To use the alarm clock function:

  1. Press and hold the ALARM SET button until the alarm hour digits flash.
  2. Use the ADJUST or TUNING buttons to set the desired alarm hour.
  3. Press ALARM SET again to move to the alarm minute digits.
  4. Use the ADJUST or TUNING buttons to set the desired alarm minutes.
  5. Press ALARM SET once more to confirm the alarm time.
  6. To activate/deactivate the alarm, press the ALARM ON/OFF button. An alarm icon will appear on the display when activated.
  7. The radio also features a SNOOZE function. When the alarm sounds, press the SNOOZE button to temporarily pause the alarm.

6.4 Radio Operation

The Silvercrest WE2300 supports 8 frequency bands: FM, MW, and six Shortwave (SW) bands.

  1. Band Selection: Press the BAND button repeatedly to cycle through FM, MW, SW1, SW2, SW3, SW4, SW5, and SW6. The selected band will be indicated on the display.
  2. Tuning: Use the TUNING DIAL or UP/DOWN buttons to scan for stations. The frequency will be shown on the digital display.
  3. Antenna: For optimal FM and Shortwave reception, fully extend the telescopic antenna. For MW reception, the internal ferrite antenna is typically sufficient. Adjust the radio's position for best MW reception.
  4. Volume Control: Adjust the volume using the dedicated volume control knob or buttons.

6.5 Headphone Use

To listen privately, plug the included headphones into the HEADPHONE JACK. The internal speaker will automatically mute.

7. Maintenance

  • Clean the device with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Keep the device free from dust and dirt.
  • If the device will not be used for an extended period, remove the batteries to prevent leakage.

8. Troubleshooting

  • No Power: Check if batteries are inserted correctly and are not depleted. Replace batteries if necessary.
  • Poor Reception: Extend the telescopic antenna fully for FM/SW. For MW, rotate the radio for better signal. Try moving to a different location away from electronic interference.
  • Alarm Not Sounding: Ensure the alarm function is activated (check for alarm icon on display). Verify the alarm time is set correctly.
  • Distorted Sound: Adjust the volume. Check if headphones are fully plugged in if using them.
