Introduction
This manual provides essential instructions for the safe and effective use, setup, operation, and maintenance of your CK Worldwide TL26 Air Cooled Trim-Line TIG Torch Kit. Please read this manual thoroughly before operating the equipment.
Important Safety Information
WARNING: Welding equipment can be dangerous. Always follow safety precautions to prevent injury or death. Consult relevant safety standards and guidelines for welding operations.
- Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including welding helmet, gloves, and protective clothing.
- Ensure proper ventilation to avoid inhaling hazardous fumes.
- Protect yourself and others from electric shock.
- Be aware of fire and explosion hazards.
- Do not operate damaged equipment.
- Keep children and unauthorized personnel away from the welding area.
For detailed safety information, refer to ANSI Z49.1 "Safety in Welding, Cutting, and Allied Processes" and your welding power source manual.
Product Overview
The CK Worldwide TL26 Air Cooled Trim-Line TIG Torch Kit is designed for efficient TIG welding, offering a reduced size and weight while maintaining high amperage capacity. This kit includes a flexible torch body, a valve for gas control, and a Super-Flex cable.

Figure 1: CK Worldwide TL26 Air Cooled Trim-Line TIG Torch Kit. This image shows the complete TIG torch kit, including the torch head, handle, gas valve, and the coiled red Super-Flex cable with a brass fitting at the end.
Key Features:
- Trim-Line torches significantly reduce the size and weight of your torch while maintaining similar amperage capacity.
- Larger coolant passage in head.
- Flex head a maximum of 40 degrees from centerline.
- 200 amp ACHF or DCSP @ 100% duty cycle.
- Compatible with 3 Series Head Accessories.
Setup Instructions
- Unpacking and Inspection: Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Inspect the torch kit for any signs of damage during shipping. Do not use if damaged.
- Connecting to Welding Machine:
- Connect the power cable and gas hose from the torch kit to the appropriate terminals and gas supply on your TIG welding power source. Ensure all connections are secure using the Fail-Safe hose fittings.
- Verify that the gas supply (e.g., Argon) is connected and regulated to the recommended pressure for TIG welding.
- Installing Consumables: Install the appropriate collet, collet body, tungsten electrode, and ceramic cup (nozzle) into the torch head. Ensure all components are tightened correctly.
- Bending the Flex Head (if applicable):
IMPORTANT: Do not attempt to bend the torch head immediately after unpacking. The internal coils need to warm up to prevent damage.
- Strike a few arcs with the torch to warm up the internal coils. This makes the flexible area more pliable.
- Once warmed, you may gently bend the flexible area. The recommended bending area is between the handle and approximately 1/2 inch before the head.
- The maximum bending angle is 40 degrees from the centerline.
- Minimize the number of times the torch is flexed. Spread the bend over the entire neck of the torch rather than concentrating it at one point.
Operating Instructions
- Pre-Weld Checks:
- Ensure all connections are secure and leak-free.
- Verify gas flow and pressure.
- Check tungsten electrode for proper grind and extension.
- Confirm welding machine settings (amperage, AC/DC, pulse, etc.) are appropriate for the material and thickness.
- Initiating the Arc:
- For torches with a valve, open the gas valve on the torch handle to initiate gas flow.
- Use high-frequency (HF) start or lift-arc technique as per your welding machine's capabilities to initiate the arc.
- Welding: Maintain a consistent arc length and travel speed. Adjust amperage as needed during welding. The TL26 torch is rated for 200 amps ACHF or DCSP at 100% duty cycle.
- Post-Weld: After completing the weld, allow the post-flow gas to protect the weld puddle and tungsten as it cools. Close the gas valve on the torch handle if it is a manual valve model.
Maintenance
- Regular Inspection: Periodically inspect the torch body, cable, and connections for wear, cuts, or damage. Replace any damaged components immediately.
- Consumable Replacement: Replace worn or damaged collets, collet bodies, tungsten electrodes, and ceramic cups as needed. A worn ceramic cup can lead to poor gas shielding.
- Cleaning: Keep the torch head and consumables clean from spatter and debris. Use a wire brush or appropriate cleaning tools.
- Cable Care: Avoid kinking or excessively bending the Super-Flex cable. Store the torch kit properly to prevent damage to the cable and connections.
