Setup
1. Powering the Device
The Braun BNC010 can be powered by batteries or an optional AC adapter.
Battery Installation:
- Locate the battery compartment on the underside of the unit.
- Open the battery compartment cover.
- Insert the required batteries (usually AA or AAA, check compartment for type) ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
- Close the battery compartment cover securely.
AC Adapter Connection (Optional):
- If using an AC adapter, plug the adapter into the DC input jack on the back of the unit.
- Plug the other end of the adapter into a standard wall outlet.
2. Initial Time Setting
The BNC010 features worldwide radio-controlled time for automatic synchronization.
- Upon first power-on, the clock will attempt to synchronize with the atomic clock signal. This may take a few minutes.
- Ensure the device is placed in an area with good signal reception, away from large metal objects or other electronic devices that may cause interference.
- If manual setting is required (e.g., in areas with no signal), refer to the "Operating" section for time adjustment instructions.
Operating
Setting the Time Manually:
- Press and hold the TIME button (usually located on the side or back) until the time display flashes.
- Use the + and - buttons to adjust the hours.
- Press the TIME button again to move to minutes, then use + and - to adjust.
- Press TIME once more to confirm and exit time setting mode.
Setting the Alarm:
- Press and hold the ALARM button until the alarm time display flashes.
- Use the + and - buttons to adjust the alarm hours.
- Press the ALARM button again to move to alarm minutes, then use + and - to adjust.
- Press ALARM once more to confirm.
- To activate/deactivate the alarm, briefly press the ALARM button. An alarm icon will appear/disappear on the display.
Using the Snooze Function:
When the alarm sounds, press the large SNOOZE button (usually on top of the unit) to temporarily silence the alarm. The alarm will sound again after a few minutes (default snooze time is typically 5-9 minutes).
Radio Operation:
Tuning the Radio:
- Press the RADIO ON/OFF button to turn on the radio.
- Use the TUNING + and TUNING - buttons to manually tune to your desired FM or AM frequency.
- For automatic scanning, press and hold the TUNING + or TUNING - button.
Setting Station Presets:
The BNC010 features 6 station preset buttons.
- Tune to the desired radio station.
- Press and hold one of the preset buttons (M1-M6) until you hear a beep or see a confirmation on the display. The station is now saved to that preset.
- To recall a preset station, simply press the corresponding preset button briefly.
Adjusting Volume:
Use the VOLUME + and VOLUME - buttons to adjust the radio volume.
Maintenance
Cleaning:
To clean the device, use a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners, waxes, or solvents as they may damage the finish.
Battery Replacement:
When the display dims or the device functions erratically, it may be time to replace the batteries. Follow the "Battery Installation" steps in the "Setup" section. Dispose of old batteries responsibly according to local regulations.
