1. Introduction
The Hasbro Guess Who game is a classic mystery face-guessing game designed for two players. The objective is to be the first player to identify the mystery character on your opponent's card by asking strategic yes or no questions.
This manual provides detailed instructions for setting up the game, understanding the rules, and maintaining your game components.
- Players: 2
- Recommended Age: 3 years and up
2. Contents
Please ensure all the following components are present in your game box:
- Two (2) plastic gameboard trays (one red, one blue)
- Twenty-four (24) mystery cards
- Forty-eight (48) face cards
- Forty-eight (48) face frames
- Two (2) score keepers
- Eight (8) rubber feet
- Instruction sheet (English and Spanish)
3. Setup
Assembly is required before playing. Follow these steps to prepare your game:
- Attach Rubber Feet: Turn each gameboard tray upside down. Insert the eight (8) rubber feet into the designated holes on the bottom of each tray. These provide stability during play.
- Insert Face Frames: Carefully insert the 48 face frames into the slots on both gameboard trays. Ensure they are securely in place and can pivot freely.
- Place Face Cards: Slide one of the 48 face cards into each face frame. Ensure the character's face is visible and upright. There are two sets of face cards (People and Pets) included. Choose one set to use for the game.
- Prepare Mystery Cards: Shuffle the 24 mystery cards and place them face down in a pile. Each player will draw one mystery card at the start of the game.
- Set Up Score Keepers: Attach the score keepers to the designated slots on the side of each gameboard tray.

4. Operating (How to Play)
Once the game is set up, follow these steps to play Guess Who:
- Choose Your Mystery Character: Each player secretly draws one mystery card from the shuffled pile. This is the character your opponent must guess. Do not show your card to your opponent.
- Set Up Your Board: Both players should have all 24 character frames standing upright on their gameboard.
- Take Turns Asking Questions: The youngest player goes first. On your turn, ask your opponent a yes or no question about their mystery character. Examples include:
- "Does your character have glasses?"
- "Is your character wearing a hat?"
- "Does your character have brown hair?"
- Eliminate Characters: Based on your opponent's answer, flip down the character frames on your board that do not match the description. For example, if the answer is "No, my character does not have glasses," you would flip down all characters on your board that are wearing glasses. Your opponent will do the same on their board based on your question.
- Guessing the Character: When you believe you know your opponent's mystery character, you may use your turn to make a guess instead of asking a question. You can only make one guess per game. If your guess is correct, you win the game! If your guess is incorrect, you lose the game.
- Winning the Game: The first player to correctly guess their opponent's mystery character wins the round. Use the score keepers to track wins.

5. Maintenance
Proper care will extend the life of your Guess Who game:
- Cleaning: Wipe gameboard trays and plastic components with a soft, slightly damp cloth. Do not submerge in water. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
- Storage: Store all game components in the original game box when not in use. Keep in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to prevent warping or fading.
- Card Care: Handle cards gently to prevent bending or tearing. If cards become dirty, gently wipe with a dry cloth.
6. Troubleshooting
If you encounter any issues while playing, consider the following:
- Character Frames Not Staying Up: Ensure the face frames are fully inserted into their slots on the gameboard. If they frequently fall, gently press them into place. Over time, plastic components may loosen slightly with repeated use.
- Missing Components: Refer to the "Contents" section (Section 2) to verify all parts are present. If a component is missing, contact Hasbro customer support.
- Difficulty with Rules: Re-read the "Operating (How to Play)" section (Section 4). For visual learners, observing others play or finding online gameplay videos may be helpful.
