3. What's in the Box

4. Installation Instructions

This product is intended for use with installed splice caps. Ensure power to the circuit is off before proceeding.

To Install:

  1. Ensure the wire splice has been properly made and secured with a compatible splice cap (e.g., Buchanan 2006S).
  2. Place the IDEAL 2007 Splice Cap Insulator over the installed splice cap.
  3. Press firmly until the insulator snaps securely into place.

To Remove:

There are two methods for removing the insulator:

Method 1: "Cold-Working" Retainer

  1. Using lineman's pliers or other suitable pliers, gently squeeze the skirt of the insulator alternately at two points 90° apart.
  2. Carefully pull off the insulator body.
  3. Cut off the insulator retainer.

Method 2: "Cutting"

  1. Using diagonal cutters or other suitable pliers, cut up the side of the insulator skirt.
  2. Peel off the insulator body.
  3. Cut off the insulator retainer.

5. Operating and Intended Use

The IDEAL 2007 Splice Cap Insulator is a passive component designed to provide electrical insulation and mechanical protection for crimped wire connections.
