3. Setup Instructions
Follow these steps to set up your Suspend game:
- Place the wooden base on a flat, stable surface.
- Insert the main vertical rod into the hole in the wooden base.
- Slide the wooden connector onto the main vertical rod, positioning it near the top.
- Attach the four frame rods to the top of the main vertical rod to form the initial suspension structure. Ensure they are securely hooked into the top notch.
- Distribute the 24 game rods evenly among players.
4. Operating Instructions (How to Play)
The objective of Suspend is to be the first player to successfully hang all of your game rods without causing the structure to fall. The game is designed for 1-4 players.
Gameplay:
- Players take turns rolling the die. The color shown on the die indicates which color game rod the player must place. If a player does not have a rod of that color, they can choose any color they possess.
- Using only one hand, carefully place the chosen game rod onto an unoccupied notch within the existing balancing structure.
- The structure will shift and sway as rods are added. The challenge is to find a stable point to hang your rod without disturbing the balance.
- If any part of the structure falls during your turn, you must collect all fallen rods and add them to your hand. Your turn then ends.
- The game continues until one player successfully places their last rod without causing the structure to fall. That player is the winner.

Proper care will ensure your Melissa & Doug Suspend game provides years of enjoyment:
- Storage: Store all game components in their original packaging or a suitable container when not in use to prevent loss or damage.
- Cleaning: Clean the wire rods and wooden parts with a dry, soft cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals, abrasive cleaners, or excessive moisture, as these can damage the materials.
- Environment: Keep the game away from direct sunlight, high humidity, and extreme temperatures to prevent warping or discoloration of the wooden components.
8. Troubleshooting
If you encounter any issues with your Suspend game, consider the following:
- Game pieces not balancing: The game is designed to be challenging. Ensure the initial setup of the frame rods and base is stable on a flat, level surface. Practice steady hands and careful, deliberate placement of each rod.
- Missing components: If any components are missing upon opening the package, please refer to the warranty and support section for contact information.
- Difficulty for younger players: For younger children, simplify the rules by allowing two hands for placement or removing the penalty for dropping rods. Focus on collaborative building rather than competitive play.
