Setup and Installation
- Positioning the Filter: Place the CBF-350C bio-filter on a stable, level surface next to your pond, ensuring it is slightly elevated above the pond's water level to allow gravity return of filtered water.
- Connecting the UVC Clarifier: Connect the CUV-224 UVC clarifier directly to the inlet of the CBF-350C filter using appropriate hose connectors and clamps (not included, typically). Ensure a watertight seal.
- Installing the Pond Pump: Submerge the NEO-10000 SuperECO pond pump in the deepest part of your pond, away from heavy sludge, to ensure optimal water intake.
- Hose Connections:
- Connect one end of the 25m pond hose to the outlet of the pond pump.
- Connect the other end of this hose to the inlet of the CUV-224 UVC clarifier.
- Connect a return hose (not included, typically) from the outlet of the CBF-350C filter back to the pond, ensuring the water flows freely.
- Electrical Connections: Ensure all electrical components (pump, UVC clarifier) are connected to a ground-fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) protected outdoor power outlet. Do not plug in until all connections are secure and the pump is submerged.
- Initial Start-up: Once all connections are secure and the pump is submerged, plug in the pump and UVC clarifier. Water should begin flowing through the system. Check for any leaks immediately.
Operating Instructions
The Wiltec pond filter system is designed for continuous operation to maintain optimal water quality. Once installed and started, the system will continuously circulate and filter pond water.
- Continuous Operation: For best results, allow the pump and UVC clarifier to run 24/7 during the pond season.
- Water Clarity: It may take several days for the pond water to become completely clear after initial setup, especially in heavily algae-laden ponds.
- Flow Rate Adjustment: The NEO-10000 pump has a fixed flow rate of 10,000 l/h. Ensure the filter system can handle this flow.
Maintenance
Regular maintenance is crucial for the efficient operation and longevity of your pond filter system.
- Filter Cleaning (CBF-350C):
- Check filter media (sponges, bio-balls) regularly, typically weekly or bi-weekly depending on pond load.
- Clean filter sponges by rinsing them in a bucket of pond water (not tap water, to preserve beneficial bacteria).
- Remove any large debris from the filter chambers.
- UVC Lamp Replacement (CUV-224):
- The UVC lamp's effectiveness diminishes over time. Replace the 24W UVC lamp annually, ideally at the start of the pond season.
- Always disconnect power before opening the UVC clarifier.
- Clean the quartz sleeve surrounding the UVC lamp periodically to ensure maximum UV light penetration.
- Pump Cleaning (NEO-10000):
- Disconnect power before handling the pump.
- Periodically remove the pump from the pond and clean the impeller and pump housing to prevent blockages and maintain flow rate. The pump housing can be opened without tools for easy cleaning.
- Hose Inspection: Regularly inspect the pond hose for kinks, damage, or blockages.
