Setup

  1. Unpack Contents: Verify all items listed in the "What's in the Box" section are present: corded handset, base, power adapter, line cord, Quick Start Guide, and Owner's Manual.
  2. Connect the Phone Line: Plug one end of the telephone line cord into the TEL LINE jack on the back of the phone base. Plug the other end into a telephone wall jack.
  3. Connect Power: Plug the small end of the power adapter into the DC IN 6V jack on the back of the phone base. Plug the large end into a standard electrical outlet.
  4. Install Batteries (for display/memory backup): The phone requires 2 Lithium Ion batteries. Open the battery compartment (usually on the underside of the base) and insert the batteries, observing polarity (+ and - markings). Close the compartment.
  5. Initial Setup: The display will prompt you to set the date and time. Follow the on-screen instructions using the MENU/SELECT and arrow keys.

Operating Instructions

Basic Call Functions

  • Making a Call: Lift the handset or press the SPEAKER button. Dial the desired phone number.
  • Answering a Call: When the phone rings, lift the handset or press the SPEAKER button.
  • Ending a Call: Place the handset back on the base or press the SPEAKER button again if using speakerphone.
  • Redial: Press the REDIAL button to call the last dialed number.
  • Mute: During a call, press the MUTE button to temporarily silence your microphone. Press again to unmute.

Digital Answering System

The digital answering system can record up to 25 minutes of messages, outgoing announcements, and memos.

  • Turning On/Off: Press the ANS ON/OFF button. The indicator light will illuminate when the answering system is on.
  • Playing Messages: Press the PLAY/STOP button to listen to new messages.
  • Skipping Messages: During playback, press SKIP to advance to the next message.
  • Repeating Messages: During playback, press REPEAT to listen to the current message again. Press twice to go to the previous message.
  • Deleting Messages: During playback, press DELETE X to erase the current message.
  • Recording Outgoing Announcement: Refer to the detailed instructions in the full Owner's Manual for recording a personalized outgoing message.
  • Remote Access: You can access your answering system remotely from any touch-tone phone. Refer to the Owner's Manual for the remote access code and instructions.

Caller ID / Call Waiting

  • Viewing Caller ID: When a call comes in, the caller's name and number will appear on the extra-large backlit display (if subscribed to Caller ID service).
  • Call Log: Press the CALL LOG button to review a list of recent incoming calls. Use the CID ▼ and DIR ▲ buttons to scroll through entries.
  • Call Waiting: If you are on a call and another call comes in (requires Call Waiting service), you will hear a tone. Press the FLASH button to switch to the incoming call.

Volume Control

  • Handset/Speakerphone Volume: During a call, press the VOLUME ▲ or VOLUME ▼ buttons to adjust the listening volume.
  • Ringer Volume: While the phone is idle, press the VOLUME ▲ or VOLUME ▼ buttons to adjust the ringer volume.
  • Audio Assist: Press the AUDIO ASSIST button during a call to temporarily boost the audio for clearer listening.

Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Wipe the phone and handset with a soft, slightly damp cloth. Do not use cleaning sprays or abrasive chemicals.
  • Battery Replacement: If the display or memory backup functions become unreliable, replace the 2 Lithium Ion batteries. Ensure proper polarity.
  • Cord Care: Avoid tangling or excessive pulling on the handset and line cords to prevent damage.

Troubleshooting
