Transmitter (TF-40) Key Features:

Setup

1. Battery Installation (Transmitter)

  1. Open the battery compartment cover on the bottom of the TF-40 transmitter.
  2. Insert the required batteries (typically AA batteries, not included) according to the polarity markings inside the compartment.
  3. Close the battery compartment cover securely.

2. Receiver Installation and Connection

  1. Mount the RF-40 receiver securely in your vehicle, away from electrical interference sources like motors or ESCs.
  2. Connect the steering servo to the CH1 port on the receiver.
  3. Connect the Electronic Speed Controller (ESC) or throttle servo to the CH2 port on the receiver. Ensure the ESC's power lead is connected correctly to provide power to the receiver.
  4. Extend the receiver antenna fully and secure it in a position that avoids contact with moving parts or metal.

3. Binding the Transmitter and Receiver

Binding is the process of linking the transmitter and receiver so they communicate exclusively with each other.

  1. Ensure both the transmitter and receiver are powered off.
  2. Insert a bind plug (if supplied with your vehicle's ESC or receiver) into the BIND port on the RF-40 receiver.
  3. Power on the vehicle's ESC, which will power the receiver. The receiver's LED should flash rapidly, indicating it's in bind mode.
  4. While holding down the BIND button on the TF-40 transmitter, power on the transmitter.
  5. The transmitter's power LED should flash, and then become solid. The receiver's LED should also become solid, indicating successful binding.
  6. Release the BIND button on the transmitter.
  7. Power off both the transmitter and receiver.
  8. Remove the bind plug from the receiver.
  9. Power on the transmitter first, then the receiver/ESC. Test the controls to confirm successful binding.

Operating Instructions

1. Powering On/Off

  • To Power On: Always turn on the transmitter first, then the vehicle's receiver/ESC.
  • To Power Off: Always turn off the vehicle's receiver/ESC first, then the transmitter.

2. Basic Control

  • Steering: Rotate the steering wheel left or right to control the vehicle's direction.
  • Throttle: Pull the throttle trigger towards you for forward movement. Push the trigger away from you for braking and reverse.

3. Adjustments

  • Steering Trim (ST.TRIM): If the vehicle pulls to one side when the steering wheel is centered, adjust this dial until the vehicle tracks straight.
  • Throttle Trim (TH.TRIM): If the vehicle moves slightly forward or backward when the throttle trigger is at neutral, adjust this dial until the vehicle remains stationary.
  • Steering Dual Rate (ST.D/R): Adjust this dial to increase or decrease the maximum steering angle. Lowering the D/R can make the vehicle less sensitive to steering inputs, useful for high-speed driving.
  • Servo End Point Adjustments (L-ST-R, L-TH-H): These dials allow precise adjustment of the maximum travel for your steering and throttle servos. Adjust them to prevent servos from binding or over-traveling, which can cause damage.

Maintenance

  • Keep the transmitter and receiver clean and free of dust and debris. Use a soft, dry cloth.
  • Avoid exposing the radio set to extreme temperatures or direct sunlight for prolonged periods.
  • Remove batteries from the transmitter if it will not be used for an extended period to prevent leakage.
  • Regularly check all connections for looseness or corrosion.
