2. Safety Information

  • Weight Capacity: Do not exceed the weight capacity of 100 pounds per drawer. Overloading can compromise stability and functionality.
  • Stability: Ensure proper installation and placement on a level surface to prevent tipping. Use the adjustable leveling guides for stabilization.
  • Pinch Points: Exercise caution when opening or closing drawers to avoid pinching fingers.
  • Interlock System: The cabinet is equipped with an interlock system that prohibits the extension of more than one drawer at a time. This is a safety feature to prevent tipping. Do not attempt to force multiple drawers open simultaneously.
  • Proposition 65 Warning: This product may contain chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm.

3. Setup and Installation

The Lorell LLR43512 file cabinet comes fully assembled and is designed for freestanding installation. No assembly is required.

  1. Unpacking: Carefully remove all packaging materials. Inspect the cabinet for any shipping damage.
  2. Placement: Position the cabinet on a firm, level surface in your desired location. Ensure adequate clearance for opening drawers.
  3. Leveling: The cabinet features four adjustable leveling guides at the base. Rotate these guides to ensure the cabinet is stable and level. A level cabinet prevents drawers from drifting open or closed and ensures proper operation of the interlock system.

5. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: To clean the cabinet, wipe surfaces with a damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals that could damage the finish.
  • Drawer Slides: The heavy-duty ball-bearing slide suspension is designed for long-lasting, smooth operation. If drawers become stiff, ensure they are not overloaded and that the cabinet is level. Lubrication is generally not required for these types of slides.

6. Troubleshooting

  • Drawer Not Opening:
    • Ensure the cabinet is unlocked.
    • Check if another drawer is already open. The interlock system prevents more than one drawer from opening at a time. Close any open drawers completely.
    • If a drawer feels stuck, gently nudge other drawers to ensure they are fully closed and have engaged the safety interlock. You may hear a slight click when the safety engages.
    • Verify the cabinet is level. An unlevel cabinet can affect drawer alignment.
  • Locking Mechanism Issues:
    • If the lock feels flimsy or only locks on one side, ensure all drawers are fully closed before attempting to lock the cabinet.
    • Do not force the key. If it's difficult to turn, check for obstructions or ensure drawers are properly aligned.
  • Tipping Hazard:
    • Always ensure the cabinet is on a level surface and the leveling guides are properly adjusted.
    • Never attempt to open more than one drawer at a time. The interlock system is a critical safety feature.
    • Do not climb on or lean heavily on open drawers.
