4. Maintenance
The Squire Key Keep 1 is designed for minimal maintenance due to its robust construction.
- Cleaning: Periodically wipe the exterior with a damp cloth to remove dirt and grime. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Lubrication: The internal mechanism is generally self-lubricating. If the dials become stiff over time, a small amount of silicone-based lubricant can be applied to the moving parts.
- Weather Protection: While weatherproof, ensure the protective shutter is always closed when not in use to prevent water and debris from entering the mechanism.
5. Troubleshooting
5.1 Safe Will Not Open
- Incorrect Combination: Double-check that you are entering the correct 4-digit combination. Ensure each dial is precisely aligned with the indicator mark.
- Dials Stiff: If the dials are stiff, try applying a small amount of silicone lubricant.
- Lever Stuck: Ensure no debris is obstructing the release lever.
5.2 Safe Will Not Close
- Obstruction: Check for any items inside the safe that might be preventing the door from closing completely.
- Mechanism Misalignment: Ensure the internal locking mechanism is not jammed. Gently try to reseat the door.
5.3 Combination Dials Are Hard to Turn
- Dirt/Debris: Clean the dials and surrounding area.
- Lack of Lubrication: Apply a small amount of silicone-based lubricant to the dials and their shafts.
