2. Safety Instructions
Please read and understand all safety instructions before operating the pump. Failure to follow these instructions may result in electric shock, fire, or serious injury.
- Electrical Safety: The AP-Series air pumps operate on standard 110V electric power and are UL/CUL Certified. Always ensure the power outlet is properly grounded. Do not operate the pump with a damaged cord or plug. Do not immerse the pump in water.
- Placement: Position the pump above the water level to prevent water from siphoning back into the pump in case of a power outage. Use a check valve if the pump must be placed below water level.
- Ventilation: Ensure the pump is placed in a well-ventilated area to prevent overheating. Do not cover the air vents on the pump.
- Children and Pets: Keep the pump out of reach of children and pets.
- Maintenance: Always unplug the pump from the power source before performing any maintenance or cleaning.
3. Package Contents
Verify that all items are present in the package:
- Danner Supreme Oxy-Flo AP-8 Air Pump
- Instruction Sheet (this manual)
Note: Standard 3/16-inch diameter airline tubing and air stones/accessories are sold separately and are required for operation.
4. Setup Instructions
Follow these steps to set up your Danner AP-8 Air Pump:
- Unpack the Pump: Carefully remove the air pump and all components from the packaging. Inspect for any damage.
- Choose a Location: Place the air pump on a flat, stable surface. For optimal safety and performance, the pump should be positioned above the water level of your aquarium or water feature. This prevents water from siphoning back into the pump. If placing below water level is unavoidable, install a check valve on each airline to prevent backflow.
- Connect Airline Tubing: Connect standard 3/16-inch diameter airline tubing (not included) to the air outlets on the front of the pump. The AP-8 model features four air outlets.

- Attach Air Accessories: Connect the other end of the airline tubing to your desired air accessories, such as air stones, sponge filters, or decorative aerators, inside your aquarium or water feature.
- Power Connection: Plug the pump's 6-foot power cord into a standard 110V electrical outlet. Ensure your hands are dry before handling the plug.
