Setup and Installation
Proper installation is crucial for optimal performance and safety. Refer to the diagrams below for connection details.
Mounting the Amplifier
The RZ1-1500D is designed for car mount installation. Choose a location that is dry, well-ventilated, and away from direct heat sources. Ensure there is sufficient space around the amplifier for air circulation.
- Securely fasten the amplifier using the provided mounting hardware.
- Avoid mounting on carpet or other materials that may obstruct airflow.

Wiring Connections
- Power Connection: Connect a heavy-gauge power cable (typically 4 or 8 gauge, depending on system requirements) from the vehicle's positive battery terminal to the amplifier's +12V terminal. Install an in-line fuse holder within 18 inches of the battery.
- Ground Connection: Connect a heavy-gauge ground cable of the same length as the power cable from the amplifier's GND terminal to a clean, unpainted metal surface on the vehicle chassis. Ensure a solid, low-resistance connection.
- Remote Turn-On: Connect a remote turn-on wire from your head unit's remote output to the amplifier's REM terminal. This wire signals the amplifier to turn on and off with your head unit.
- Audio Input: Connect RCA cables from your head unit's subwoofer output to the amplifier's RCA input jacks. The amplifier also supports high-level input.
- Speaker Output: Connect your subwoofer(s) to the amplifier's speaker output terminals. Ensure correct polarity (+ to + and - to -). The amplifier is 2-ohm stable.
Operating Instructions
Initial Power-Up
After all connections are made and verified, reconnect the vehicle's battery. The amplifier's power indicator LED should illuminate when the head unit is turned on.
Adjusting Settings
- Gain Control: Adjust the gain control to match the output voltage of your head unit. Start with the gain at minimum and slowly increase it until distortion is audible, then back off slightly.
- Low-Pass Crossover (LPF): The RZ1-1500D features a variable 12dB LPF, adjustable from 50-250Hz. Set this to filter out high frequencies from your subwoofer, typically between 80-120Hz, depending on your subwoofer and other speakers.
- Subsonic Crossover: A variable 12dB subsonic crossover (10-50Hz) helps protect your subwoofer by filtering out extremely low frequencies that it cannot reproduce efficiently. Set this slightly below your subwoofer's resonant frequency or port tuning frequency.
- Bass Boost: Use the bass boost feature sparingly. Excessive bass boost can lead to distortion and potential damage to your subwoofer.
Remote Bass Level Control
The amplifier may include a remote bass level control for convenient adjustment of subwoofer output from the driver's seat.

Maintenance
- Cleaning: Periodically clean the amplifier's exterior with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or solvents.
- Ventilation: Ensure that the amplifier's cooling fins are free from dust and debris to maintain proper heat dissipation.
- Connections: Regularly check all wiring connections for tightness and corrosion. Loose connections can cause performance issues or damage.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| No Power / No Sound | Blown fuse, loose power/ground/remote wire, faulty head unit. | Check in-line fuse, verify all connections, test head unit output. |
| Distorted Sound | Gain set too high, improper crossover settings, poor quality audio source. | Reduce gain, adjust LPF/subsonic, check audio source. |
| Amplifier Overheats | Insufficient ventilation, improper impedance load, gain too high. | Ensure proper airflow, verify speaker impedance, reduce gain. |
| Protection Mode Activated | Short circuit in speaker wiring, amplifier overheating, low voltage. | Check speaker wires for shorts, allow amplifier to cool, verify vehicle voltage. |
