Initial Setup

Before using your Armitron Sport watch, it is important to set the correct time and date. The watch features four buttons: RESET (top left), MODE (bottom left), ST/STP (top right), and EL (bottom right).

Setting Time and Date

  1. From the main timekeeping screen, press and hold the RESET button (top left) until the seconds indicator starts blinking.
  2. To reset seconds to zero, press the ST/STP button (top right).
  3. Press the MODE button (bottom left) to advance to the next setting (hours).
  4. Use the ST/STP button (top right) to adjust the blinking value. Press and hold for faster adjustment.
  5. Continue pressing the MODE button to cycle through minutes, year (displayed as the last two digits, e.g., '24' for 2024), month, and day. Adjust each value using the ST/STP button.
  6. Once all settings are correct, press the RESET button (top left) to save changes and exit the setting mode.

12-Hour vs. 24-Hour Format

From the main timekeeping screen, simply press the ST/STP button (top right) to toggle between 12-hour and 24-hour (military) time formats. In 12-hour format, a 'PM' indicator will be visible for afternoon hours. In 24-hour format, no 'AM' or 'PM' indicator is displayed.

Operating Modes

Your Armitron Sport watch features several operating modes accessible via the MODE button (bottom left).

Stopwatch Mode

The stopwatch measures elapsed time, splits, and lap times.

  1. From the main timekeeping screen, press the MODE button once to enter Stopwatch mode (indicated by 'SP').
  2. Press ST/STP (top right) to start the stopwatch.
  3. Press ST/STP again to stop the stopwatch. Pressing it again will resume.
  4. While the stopwatch is running, press RESET (top left) to record a split time. The stopwatch continues running in the background. Press RESET again to release the split and view the current running time.
  5. When the stopwatch is stopped, press RESET (top left) to clear the time to zero.

The current time is always displayed at the bottom of the screen in Stopwatch mode.

Countdown Timer Mode

The watch features a countdown timer up to 24 hours, with second-level precision.

  1. From the main timekeeping screen, press the MODE button twice to enter Timer mode (indicated by 'TR').
  2. To set the timer, press RESET (top left). The hour value will blink.
  3. Use ST/STP (top right) to adjust the hours (0-24). Note: '00' hours represents 24 hours.
  4. Press MODE (bottom left) to move to minutes, then seconds. Adjust each using ST/STP.
  5. Press RESET (top left) to confirm the set time.
  6. Press ST/STP (top right) to start the countdown.
  7. Press ST/STP again to pause/resume the countdown.
  8. When paused, press RESET (top left) to reset the timer to its set value.

The timer continues running in the background even if you switch to another mode. The watch will remember the last set default value for the timer.

Alarm(s) and Hourly Signal

The watch has five independent alarms and an hourly signal feature.

  1. From the main timekeeping screen, press the MODE button three times to enter Alarm mode (indicated by 'AL').
  2. The first screen you see is for the Hourly Signal. Press ST/STP (top right) to toggle the Hourly Signal ON/OFF. A small bell icon will appear on the display when it's ON.
  3. Press the EL button (bottom right) to cycle through Alarm 1 to Alarm 5.
  4. To set an alarm, select the desired alarm number using the EL button. Then, press RESET (top left) to make the hour value blink.
  5. Use ST/STP (top right) to adjust the hour. Press MODE (bottom left) to move to minutes, and adjust using ST/STP.
  6. Press RESET (top left) to save the alarm time. Setting an alarm time will automatically turn that alarm ON.
  7. To toggle an alarm ON/OFF, select the alarm number and press ST/STP (top right). A small alarm icon will appear on the display when any alarm is ON.

You can only tell which specific alarms are active by cycling through them in Alarm mode.

Dual Time (T2) Mode

This mode allows you to track a second time zone.

  1. From the main timekeeping screen, press the MODE button four times to enter Dual Time mode (indicated by 'T2').
  2. To set the T2 time, press RESET (top left). The hour value will blink.
  3. Use ST/STP (top right) to adjust the hour.
  4. Press MODE (bottom left) to move to minutes. Note: The minutes for T2 can only be set to match your current time's minutes or a 30-minute increment difference. Seconds cannot be adjusted.
  5. Press RESET (top left) to save the T2 time.

Your current time is always displayed at the bottom of the screen in T2 mode.

Pacer Mode

Pacer mode provides an audible beep at a set rate to help you maintain a consistent pace during activities like walking, running, or swimming.

  1. From the main timekeeping screen, press the MODE button five times to enter Pacer mode (indicated by 'PA').
  2. The blinking number in the middle represents the beats per minute. Press RESET (top left) to cycle through preset values (10, 20, 30, 40, 60, 80, 120, 160, 240, 320 beats per minute).
  3. Press ST/STP (top right) to start the pacer. The watch will begin beeping at the selected rate.
  4. Press ST/STP again to stop the pacer.

Pacer mode stops when you exit the mode. It does not run in the background.

Backlight

The watch features a backlight for viewing the display in low-light conditions.

  • Press the EL button (bottom right) to activate the backlight.
  • The backlight will illuminate the display for approximately 3 seconds.
  • The backlight duration is fixed and cannot be adjusted.

Maintenance

Proper care will ensure the longevity of your Armitron Sport watch.

  • Cleaning: Wipe the watch with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.
  • Water Resistance: This watch is water resistant to 100 meters (330 feet). It is suitable for recreational swimming and snorkeling. Do not press buttons underwater. Avoid hot water exposure (e.g., hot tubs, saunas) as it can compromise water seals.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your watch, try the following common troubleshooting steps:

  • Blank Display: If the display is blank or dim, the battery may need replacement. Contact a qualified watch technician for battery replacement.
  • Incorrect Time/Date: Refer to the 'Setting Time and Date' section to re-adjust the watch.
  • Buttons Unresponsive: Ensure the watch is dry. If buttons remain unresponsive, there may be an internal issue requiring professional service.
  • Water Inside Display: If condensation or water appears inside the watch, stop using it immediately and seek professional repair to prevent further damage.
