Setup

1. Battery Installation

The Olympus VR-340 uses a rechargeable battery. Ensure the battery is fully charged before first use.

  1. Open the battery compartment cover located on the bottom of the camera.
  2. Insert the battery with the correct orientation, matching the contacts.
  3. Close the battery compartment cover securely until it clicks.

2. SD Card Insertion

The camera supports SD and SDHC memory cards for storing photos and videos.

  1. Open the memory card slot cover, usually located near the battery compartment.
  2. Insert the SD card with the metal contacts facing the front of the camera until it clicks into place.
  3. Close the memory card slot cover securely.

3. Powering On/Off

Press the power button located on the top of the camera to turn it on or off.

Operating Instructions

Basic Photography

To capture still images:

  1. Turn on the camera.
  2. Frame your shot using the 3-inch LCD screen.
  3. Press the shutter button halfway down to focus. The camera will use its contrast detection autofocus system.
  4. Once focused, press the shutter button fully to take the picture.

The camera features a 16 Megapixel sensor and a 10x optical zoom lens (24-240mm equivalent) for versatile shooting.

HD Video Recording

The VR-340 can record HD 720p videos.

  1. Switch the camera to video recording mode (refer to your camera's mode dial or menu for this option).
  2. Press the dedicated video record button to start recording.
  3. Press the button again to stop recording.

Magic Art Filters

Apply creative effects directly to your photos and videos using the built-in Magic Art Filters. Options include Pop Art, Pin Hole, Drawing, Fish Eye, Soft Focus, Punk, Watercolor, Miniature, Sparkle, Reflection, Dramatic, and Fragmented.

  1. Navigate to the Magic Art Filter setting in the camera menu.
  2. Select your desired filter.
  3. Capture your photo or video; the effect will be applied automatically.

Image Stabilization

The camera features sensor-shift image stabilization to help reduce blur caused by camera shake, especially in low light or when using the zoom.

Shooting Modes

The VR-340 offers various shooting modes, including:

  • Automatic: The camera automatically adjusts settings for optimal results.
  • Landscape: Optimized for capturing wide outdoor scenes.
  • Other scene modes may be available via the menu for specific situations like portraits or night scenes.

Self-Timer

To use the self-timer (4 seconds duration):

  1. Access the self-timer setting in the camera menu.
  2. Select the 4-second option.
  3. Press the shutter button. The camera will count down before taking the picture.

Connectivity

The camera supports HDMI and USB connectivity for transferring images and videos. It also features EyeFi wireless technology for compatible memory cards.

  • USB: Connect the camera to a computer using a USB cable to transfer files.
  • HDMI: Connect the camera to an HDTV using an HDMI cable to view photos and videos.

Maintenance

Cleaning the Camera
