3.2 Initial Inspection

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Opening the Blade

The Kershaw Funxion EMT features a SpeedSafe assisted opening mechanism. To open the blade:

1. Using the Flipper: Apply downward pressure to the flipper tab located on the spine of the handle. The blade will quickly deploy and lock into place.
2. Using the Thumb Stud: Apply outward pressure to the thumb stud on the blade. The blade will deploy and lock into place.

Ensure the blade is fully locked before use. The SpeedSafe mechanism is assisted, not automatic.

4.2 Closing the Blade

To close the blade, disengage the liner lock:

1. Locate the liner lock, which is a metal bar inside the handle, pressing against the base of the blade.
2. Push the liner lock to the side, away from the blade's path.
3. Carefully fold the blade back into the handle until it is fully closed. Keep fingers clear of the blade path.

The Funxion EMT includes several integrated tools:

• Cord Cutter: Fold out the cord cutter from the handle. It locks into place with a leaf spring mechanism. Use the sharp hook to cut cords, seatbelts, or similar materials.
• Hex Wrench: The cord cutter also features a hex wrench opening.
• Carabiner Clip: Fold out the carabiner clip from the handle. It can be used to attach the knife to gear or a belt loop. When the carabiner is engaged, the blade is locked to prevent accidental opening.
• Glassbreaker Tip: The pointed tip at the end of the handle can be used for emergency glass breaking.

5.1 Cleaning

To maintain your knife's performance and appearance, follow these cleaning guidelines:

• Hand Wash Only: Clean the knife by hand using mild soap and water. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
• Rinse thoroughly and dry immediately with a soft cloth to prevent rust or water spots.
