1. Introduction

4. Installation

The ZE-NC2011D is designed for direct replacement of the original factory radio in compatible vehicles. Professional installation is recommended.

4.2. Installation Steps (Overview)

  1. Carefully remove the original factory radio unit from the dashboard.
  2. Connect the ZE-NC2011D wiring harnesses to the vehicle's connectors. Ensure all connections, including CAN-bus, are secure.
  3. Position the GPS antenna. For optimal signal reception, place it on the dashboard, away from obstructions.
  4. Route the USB breakout box to a convenient location, such as the glove compartment.
  5. Mount the ZE-NC2011D unit into the dashboard opening using the provided mounting hardware.
  6. Secure the unit and reassemble any removed trim pieces.

Note: The ZE-NC2011D integrates with your vehicle's CAN-bus system to support steering wheel controls, multi-function display (MFA+), optical parking system (OPS), and Climatronic status display. Ensure proper CAN-bus connection during installation.

5. Initial Setup

After installation and powering on the unit for the first time, follow these steps:

  1. Language Selection: Choose your preferred system language from the initial setup menu.
  2. Time and Date: Set the correct time zone, date, and time. The system may automatically synchronize with GPS time once a signal is acquired.
  3. Navigation Map Setup: Follow the on-screen prompts to configure the navigation software, including map region and voice guidance preferences.
  4. Bluetooth Pairing: Access the Bluetooth menu to pair your mobile phone for hands-free communication and audio streaming.

Important: Due to potential power fluctuations during engine start, it is recommended to save all desired settings and turn off the unit before starting the engine to prevent settings from being reset.

6. Operating Instructions

The ZE-NC2011D features a 6.5-inch LCD touchscreen for intuitive control. The main menu provides access to all primary functions.

6.1. Main Menu Navigation

From the main menu, tap the desired icon to access functions such as Navigation, DVD, Tuner (Radio), USB, Camera, or iPod. Physical buttons on the left and right sides of the unit provide quick access to frequently used functions like HOME, FM/AM, DVD, NAV, MUTE, ALT, and Bluetooth (BT).

6.2. Navigation System

  • Destination Input: Tap the 'Navi' icon to launch the navigation software. Enter your destination using the on-screen keyboard.
  • Route Guidance: Follow voice prompts and on-screen directions. The system supports European maps with TMC (Traffic Message Channel) for real-time traffic updates and lane assist for clear guidance on complex junctions.
  • Points of Interest (POI): Search for 3D Points of Interest such as gas stations, restaurants, and attractions.
  • MFA+ Display: Navigation arrows may be displayed in the vehicle's multi-function display (MFA+) within the audio menu. Note that certain complex maneuvers, such as roundabouts, may have display inaccuracies in the MFA+.

6.3. Radio (Tuner)

  • Band Selection: Tap 'Tuner' or press the 'FM/AM' button to access the radio. Select between FM and AM bands.
  • Station Tuning: Use the on-screen controls or physical buttons to scan for stations or manually tune to a frequency.
  • Presets: Save your favorite stations to preset buttons for quick access.
  • Dual Tuner: The dual tuner design provides optimal radio reception quality.

6.4. Media Playback (DVD/USB/SD/iPod)

  • DVD Player: Insert a DVD disc into the slot. The system will automatically detect and begin playback. For safety, video playback is typically restricted when the vehicle is in motion. To enable video playback while the parking brake is disengaged (for passenger viewing only), navigate to Settings > Theft, enter PIN 200905, and modify the 'Parking' function in the extended menu.
  • USB/SD Playback: Connect a USB device to the USB breakout box or insert an SD/SDHC card into the designated slot. The system supports MP3 and WMA audio formats.
  • iPod/iPhone: Connect your iPod or iPhone via the USB breakout box. The system allows control of music playback. Note that library browsing may be album-centric, and direct playback of all songs by an artist across multiple albums may not be directly supported through the unit's interface.

6.5. Bluetooth Connectivity

  • Pairing: Access the Bluetooth menu (via 'BT' button or main menu icon) on the unit and enable Bluetooth on your mobile phone. Search for the ZE-NC2011D and pair the devices.
  • Hands-Free Calling: Make and receive calls directly through the unit. Contact lists from your phone will be synchronized, typically sorted by last name on the unit's display. Voice dial forwarding from the phone is not supported by the unit.
  • Audio Streaming (A2DP): Stream audio from your paired phone to the ZE-NC2011D. Track information (title, artist) may not be displayed during A2DP streaming.

6.6. Camera Input

The unit supports an external camera input, typically used for a rearview camera. When the vehicle is in reverse, the camera feed will automatically display on the screen. The system may have a noticeable boot-up time, which can affect the immediate display of the camera feed upon starting the vehicle.

6.7. System Settings

Access the system settings menu to adjust various parameters, including audio equalizer, display brightness, navigation preferences, and general system configurations.

7. Maintenance

  • Screen Cleaning: Use a soft, lint-free cloth to gently wipe the touchscreen. For stubborn marks, slightly dampen the cloth with water or a screen-safe cleaner. Avoid abrasive materials or harsh chemicals.
  • General Care: Keep the unit free from dust and debris. Ensure proper ventilation around the unit.
  • Software Updates: Periodically check the Zenec website for available software and map updates. Follow the provided instructions carefully for any update procedures. Updates may require the ignition to be on for an extended period.

8. Troubleshooting

  • No Power: Check all power connections and vehicle fuses. Ensure the unit is properly seated in its mounting.
  • No Sound: Verify volume levels, audio source selection, and speaker connections. Check if the 'Mute' function is active.
  • GPS Signal Loss: Ensure the GPS antenna is correctly positioned and has a clear view of the sky. Check antenna connection.
  • Bluetooth Connection Issues: Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on both the unit and your phone. Delete previous pairings and attempt to re-pair.
  • Settings Reset After Engine Start: As noted in Section 5, power fluctuations during engine start can cause unsaved settings to reset. Always save your settings and power off the unit before turning off the engine.
  • Slow Responsiveness: The system may exhibit a noticeable boot-up time and some operations might have a slight delay in response. This is normal operational behavior.
  • DVD Playback Issues: Ensure the disc is clean and free from scratches. Verify the parking brake safety setting if video is not playing while stationary (refer to Section 6.4).
