4. Package Contents

Upon unpacking, please verify that all items are present and undamaged:

  • PeakTech 6150 Linear Power Supply Unit
  • Power Cable
  • User Manual

If any items are missing or damaged, please contact your supplier immediately.

5. Setup

  1. Placement: Place the power supply on a stable, level surface with adequate ventilation space around it. Ensure the rear fan is not obstructed.
  2. Power Connection: Connect the provided power cable to the AC input socket on the rear panel of the device. Plug the other end into a suitable grounded AC power outlet.
  3. Initial Check: Before connecting any load, ensure the main output voltage and current knobs are set to their minimum positions (fully counter-clockwise).

6. Operating Instructions

6.1. Powering On/Off

  • Press the "POWER" switch on the front panel to turn the unit ON. The LED displays will illuminate.
  • To turn OFF, press the "POWER" switch again.

6.2. Adjustable Main Output (0-30V / 0-5A)

  1. Connecting Load: Ensure the "OUTPUT" switch is OFF (LED off). Connect your load to the main output terminals (red for positive, black for negative) using 4mm safety banana plugs.
  2. Setting Voltage: Use the "VOLTAGE" knob to adjust the desired output voltage. The voltage will be displayed on the right LED display.
  3. Setting Current Limit: Use the "CURRENT" knob to set the maximum current limit. This is crucial for protecting your circuit. The current limit is displayed on the left LED display when the unit is in Constant Current (CC) mode or when adjusting the knob.
  4. Activating Output: Once voltage and current limits are set, press the "OUTPUT" switch to turn the output ON (LED illuminates).
  5. Constant Voltage (CV) Mode: When the load current is below the set current limit, the power supply operates in Constant Voltage (CV) mode, maintaining the set voltage. The "CV" indicator LED will be lit.
  6. Constant Current (CC) Mode: If the load current attempts to exceed the set current limit, the power supply automatically switches to Constant Current (CC) mode, maintaining the set current by reducing the output voltage. The "CC" indicator LED will be lit.

6.3. Fixed Voltage Outputs (5V/500mA, 12V/500mA)

The PeakTech 6150 also provides two fixed voltage outputs: 5V at 500mA and 12V at 500mA. These outputs are always active when the unit is powered on and are independent of the main adjustable output.

  • Connect your load to the respective 5V/500mA (red/blue terminals) or 12V/500mA (red/blue terminals) safety sockets.
  • Ensure the load does not exceed the 500mA current rating for these outputs.

7. Maintenance

The PeakTech 6150 power supply requires minimal maintenance.

  • Cleaning: Disconnect the power supply from the mains before cleaning. Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the exterior. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Ventilation: Periodically check that the ventilation openings and fan are free from dust and debris. Use compressed air to clear if necessary.
  • Storage: When not in use for extended periods, store the device in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Servicing: There are no user-serviceable parts inside. Do not attempt to open or repair the unit yourself. Contact qualified service personnel for any repairs.

8. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your PeakTech 6150, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
No power/displays offPower cable not connected; Power switch off; No AC power from outlet.Ensure power cable is securely connected; Turn power switch ON; Check wall outlet with another device.
No output from main terminals"OUTPUT" switch is OFF; Voltage/Current knobs set to zero; Overload/Short-circuit protection activated.Press "OUTPUT" switch ON; Adjust voltage/current knobs to desired values; Check load for short circuits or excessive current draw.
