1. Setup

1.1 Unpacking

1.2 Battery Installation and Charging

  1. Open the battery/memory card cover on the bottom of the camera.
  2. Insert the battery pack with the correct orientation, ensuring it clicks into place.
  3. Close the cover securely.
  4. Connect the camera to the travel charger using the supplied USB cable. Plug the charger into a power outlet. The charge lamp will illuminate during charging and turn off when complete.

1.3 Memory Card Insertion

The camera supports SD/SDHC/SDXC and Memory Stick Duo/Pro Duo/Pro-HG Duo memory cards.

  1. Open the battery/memory card cover.
  2. Insert the memory card into the slot with the correct orientation until it clicks.
  3. Close the cover securely.

2. Operating the Camera

2.1 Power On/Off

Press the ON/OFF button located on the top of the camera to power it on or off.

  2. Frame Your Shot: Use the 3.0-inch LCD screen to compose your image.

  4. Focus: Press the shutter button halfway down to activate the High Speed Auto Focus system. The camera will focus on your subject (TTL autofocus with 9 points, including Face Detection).
  5. Capture: Press the shutter button fully down to take the picture.

2.3 Video Recording

To record video, switch to Movie Mode or press the dedicated MOVIE button. The camera records Full HD 1080/60i video in MPEG-4 or AVCHD format. Press the MOVIE button again to stop recording.

2.5 Playback

Press the Playback button to view your captured photos and videos on the LCD screen. Use the directional pad to navigate through your media.

3. Maintenance

3.1 Cleaning the Camera

  • Camera Body: Wipe with a soft, dry cloth. For stubborn dirt, use a cloth lightly dampened with water or a mild detergent, then wipe dry.
  • Lens: Use a lens brush to remove dust, then gently wipe with a lens cleaning cloth. Avoid touching the lens surface with your fingers.
  • LCD Screen: Gently wipe with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid pressing hard on the screen.
