The Audioengine D1 is a premium 32-bit Digital-to-Analog Converter (DAC) and headphone amplifier designed to enhance your audio experience from computers, gaming consoles, and other digital sources. It provides high-fidelity sound for both headphones and external speakers, making it suitable for various applications including music listening, gaming, and professional audio work.

Key features include:

  • Dedicated headphone output for private listening.
  • Analog outputs for connecting to external speakers.
  • Support for 32-bit, 24-bit, and CD quality audio.
  • Compact design (4 x 3 inches) for a clutter-free desktop.

2. Setup

Follow these steps to set up your Audioengine D1:

  1. Unpacking: Carefully remove the D1 unit and all accessories from the packaging. Ensure all components are present: D1 unit, USB cable, and any included documentation.
  2. Power and Data Connection: Connect the supplied USB cable from your computer's USB port to the USB/power input on the back of the D1. The D1 is powered via USB, so no external power adapter is needed for computer connections.
  3. Audio Output Connection:
    • For Headphones: Plug your headphones into the 3.5mm headphone jack on the front of the D1.
    • For External Speakers: Connect the Analog Out (RCA) ports on the back of the D1 to the corresponding inputs on your powered speakers or amplifier using RCA cables (not included).
    • For Optical Input: If using an optical source (e.g., TV, gaming console), connect an optical cable (not included) from your source to the Optical In port on the back of the D1.
  4. Driver Installation (Windows/macOS): The Audioengine D1 is a plug-and-play device and typically does not require special drivers for Windows or macOS. Your operating system should automatically recognize the device.
