2. Safety Instructions
Please read all safety instructions carefully before using the appliance. Failure to follow these instructions may result in electric shock, fire, or serious injury.
- Electrical Safety: Ensure the voltage specified on the appliance matches your local mains voltage. Do not immerse the appliance, power cord, or plug in water or any other liquid. Do not operate the appliance with a damaged cord or plug.
- Hot Surfaces: The machine produces hot water and steam. Surfaces may become very hot during operation. Use handles and knobs, and wear protective gloves if necessary. Keep hands and face away from steam nozzles.
- Children and Pets: Keep the appliance out of reach of children and pets. Supervision is necessary when the appliance is used near children.
- Placement: Place the machine on a stable, level, heat-resistant surface, away from walls and other appliances to allow for proper ventilation.
- Water Tank: Only fill the water tank with fresh, cold drinking water. Do not overfill.
- Maintenance: Unplug the machine from the power outlet before cleaning or performing any maintenance.
3. Setup
Follow these steps for the initial setup of your Bezzera BZ07 S PM Espresso Machine.
- Unpacking: Carefully remove the machine from its packaging. Retain the packaging for future transport or storage. Inspect the machine for any damage.
- Placement: Place the machine on a flat, stable, and heat-resistant surface. Ensure there is adequate space around the machine for ventilation and access to the water tank.
- Water Tank Filling: Remove the water tank from the back of the machine. Fill it with fresh, cold drinking water up to the MAX line. Reinsert the water tank securely.
- Initial Rinse: Before first use, perform an initial rinse cycle. Plug the machine into a grounded power outlet. Turn on the main power switch. Allow the machine to heat up. Once heated, run hot water through the brew group and steam wand to flush out any manufacturing residues.

4. Operating Instructions
4.1 Making Espresso
- Preheat: Ensure the machine is fully heated. The PID display will show the set temperature, and the pressure gauges will indicate optimal pressure.
- Prepare Portafilter: Grind fresh coffee beans to an espresso-fine consistency. Fill the portafilter basket with the desired amount of ground coffee (e.g., 7g for single, 14g for double). Tamp evenly with firm pressure.
- Insert Portafilter: Insert the portafilter into the brew group and lock it firmly into place by turning it to the right.
- Brew Espresso: Place your cup(s) under the portafilter spouts. Activate the brew switch. Monitor the brew pressure on the manometer. Stop the brew cycle once the desired volume of espresso is dispensed (typically 25-30ml per shot in 25-30 seconds).
- Remove Portafilter: Carefully remove the portafilter by turning it to the left. Discard the used coffee puck.
4.2 Using the Steam Wand (Milk Frothing)
- Prepare Milk: Fill a stainless steel frothing pitcher with cold milk (dairy or non-dairy) up to just below the spout.
- Purge Steam Wand: Briefly open the steam valve to purge any condensed water from the wand. Close the valve.
- Froth Milk: Immerse the tip of the steam wand just below the surface of the milk. Open the steam valve fully. Listen for a gentle "tearing" sound as air is incorporated. Lower the pitcher slightly as the milk expands, keeping the tip near the surface. Once the desired volume is reached, submerge the wand deeper to heat the milk to approximately 60-65°C (140-150°F).
- Clean Steam Wand: Immediately after frothing, wipe the steam wand with a damp cloth to remove any milk residue. Briefly open the steam valve again to clear the internal passage.
4.3 Hot Water Dispensing
To dispense hot water for tea or Americanos, place a cup under the hot water tap and open the hot water valve. Close the valve once the desired amount of hot water is dispensed.
5. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your espresso machine.
- Daily Cleaning:
- Wipe down the exterior of the machine with a soft, damp cloth.
- Empty and rinse the drip tray.
- Backflush the brew group with a blind filter to remove coffee oils.
- Clean the steam wand thoroughly after each use.
- Weekly Cleaning:
- Remove the shower screen and dispersion screw from the brew group. Clean them with a brush and warm soapy water.
- Soak the portafilter and baskets in a solution of espresso machine cleaner.
- Descaling (Every 2-3 months or as needed):
Descaling removes mineral buildup from the boiler and internal components. Use a commercial descaling solution specifically designed for espresso machines. Follow the descaler manufacturer's instructions carefully. Always rinse the machine thoroughly with fresh water after descaling.
6. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| No water flow from brew group | Water tank empty; pump airlocked; clogged brew group. | Refill water tank; prime pump (run hot water tap); clean brew group/shower screen. |
| No steam from wand | Steam wand clogged; machine not heated to steam temperature. | Clean steam wand tip; allow machine more time to heat up. |
| Espresso flows too fast/slow | Grind size incorrect; tamping pressure incorrect. | Adjust grind finer/coarser; adjust tamping pressure. |
| Machine not heating up | Power issue; heating element fault. | Check power connection; contact customer support if issue persists. |
