1. Introduction
This manual provides essential information for the safe and proper use, maintenance, and care of your Airoh Mathisse RSX Flip-Up Helmet. Please read these instructions thoroughly before using your helmet to ensure maximum safety and to prolong the life of the product. Keep this manual for future reference.
2. Safety Information
Your helmet is designed to offer protection during motorcycle use. However, no helmet can protect against all possible impacts. Always ride responsibly and adhere to all traffic laws.
- Proper Fit: Ensure the helmet fits snugly and comfortably. It should not move freely on your head.
- Retention System: Always fasten the chin strap securely. The strap should be tight enough that the helmet cannot be pulled off your head.
- Visibility: Keep your visor clean and free from obstructions. Use the integrated sun visor responsibly, especially in changing light conditions.
- Impact: A helmet that has sustained an impact, even if it appears undamaged, may have compromised protective capabilities and should be replaced.
- Chemicals: Avoid contact with petroleum products, cleaning agents, paints, or adhesives, as these can damage the helmet's materials and compromise its protective integrity. The outer shell is made from thermoplastic material.

4. Setup and Adjustment
4.1. Proper Helmet Fit
- Size Selection: Ensure you have selected the correct helmet size (e.g., 61-62cm for XL). The helmet should feel snug around your head without causing pressure points.
- Putting on the Helmet: Hold the chin straps apart and pull the helmet over your head. It should feel tight as it passes over your ears and cheeks.
- Checking Fit: Once on, try to move the helmet from side to side and up and down. Your skin should move with the helmet. If the helmet slides independently, it is too large.
4.2. Securing the Chin Strap
The helmet is equipped with a quick-release or double-D ring retention system. Ensure the strap is threaded correctly and tightened so that it is snug under your chin. You should not be able to remove the helmet by pulling it forward or backward while the strap is fastened.
4.3. Pinlock Visor Installation (Optional)
If you are installing a Pinlock anti-fog insert, carefully follow the instructions provided with the Pinlock product. The main visor must be removed for proper installation.
5. Operating Instructions
5.1. Operating the Flip-Up Chin Bar
To raise the chin bar, locate the release button or lever, typically positioned at the front center of the chin bar. Press the button and lift the chin bar upwards until it locks into the open position. To close, press the release button again and pull the chin bar down firmly until it clicks securely into the closed position. Always ensure the chin bar is fully locked before riding.
5.2. Using the Integrated Sun Visor
The integrated sun visor is operated by a slider mechanism, usually located on the side or bottom edge of the helmet. Slide the lever forward to deploy the sun visor and backward to retract it. Use the sun visor only in bright conditions and retract it in low light or at night to maintain optimal visibility.
5.3. Ventilation System
Your helmet features adjustable vents on the chin bar and top of the helmet. Slide or click the vent covers to open or close them, allowing you to control airflow and internal temperature.
5.4. Visor Removal and Installation
To remove the main clear visor for cleaning or replacement, consult the specific mechanism on your helmet. Typically, this involves pressing a release tab or rotating a lever on each side of the visor pivot point. Align the visor with the pivot points and press firmly until it clicks into place during installation. Ensure it is securely attached before riding.
6. Maintenance and Care
6.1. Cleaning the Helmet Shell
Clean the outer shell with a soft cloth, warm water, and mild soap. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents. Rinse thoroughly and dry with a soft, clean cloth. For matt finishes, avoid rubbing vigorously to prevent polishing the surface.
6.2. Visor Care
Clean visors with warm water and a soft cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or paper towels, which can scratch the surface. If a Pinlock insert is installed, clean it separately with a damp cloth and allow it to air dry. Do not wipe the inner surface of the Pinlock insert.
6.3. Interior Padding
The interior comfort liner is typically removable and washable. Refer to the helmet's specific instructions for removal. Wash gently by hand with mild soap and water, then air dry completely before reinstallation. Do not machine wash or tumble dry.
6.4. Storage
Store your helmet in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Use a helmet bag to protect it from scratches and dust.
7. Troubleshooting
- Visor Fogging: Ensure all vents are open. If persistent, consider installing a Pinlock anti-fog insert.
- Excessive Noise: Check that the visor and chin bar are fully closed and sealed. Ensure all vents are properly adjusted.
- Loose Components: Periodically check all screws and fasteners for tightness. Do not overtighten.
- Difficulty Operating Mechanisms: Clean any dirt or debris from moving parts. Apply a silicone-based lubricant sparingly if necessary, avoiding contact with the visor.
