4.1 Tools Required

4.2 Installation Steps

  1. Power Disconnection: Before beginning any work, ensure that the power to the circuit where the speaker will be installed is completely disconnected at the main breaker.
  2. Location Selection: Choose a suitable location in the ceiling, ensuring there are no obstructions (e.g., joists, pipes, electrical conduits) behind the mounting area.
  3. Cutout Creation: Using a 4-inch hole saw, carefully cut a circular opening in the ceiling at the chosen location.
  4. Wiring:
    • Run the 70V audio cable from your amplifier to the speaker cutout.
    • The C160W features solder lug inputs. Strip approximately 1/4 inch of insulation from the ends of the audio cable.
    • Carefully solder the positive (+) wire from the 70V line to the positive (+) solder lug on the speaker, and the negative (-) wire to the negative (-) solder lug. Ensure secure connections.
    • The speaker has a built-in 70V transformer with various taps. Select the appropriate wattage tap (e.g., 5W, 10W) based on your system's design and desired output level. Connect the 70V line to the selected tap.
  5. Speaker Insertion: Gently push the speaker into the cutout. The spring-loaded mounting clips will automatically pivot outwards and secure the speaker firmly against the ceiling surface.
  6. Final Check: Once installed, ensure the speaker is flush with the ceiling and securely held.
  7. Power Reconnection: Reconnect power to the circuit and test the speaker.

5. Operating Instructions

The Yorkville C160W speaker operates as part of a 70V constant voltage audio distribution system. Once properly installed and connected to a compatible 70V amplifier, it will reproduce audio signals from the amplifier.

6. Maintenance
