Setup and Installation
Proper installation is crucial for the pump's longevity and performance. Follow these steps carefully.
1. Unpacking and Inspection
- Carefully remove all components from the packaging.
- Inspect the pump, power cord, and fittings for any signs of damage. Do not use if damaged.
- Ensure all accessories, including the adapter and Pumpshield mesh bag, are present.

2. Tubing Connection
- The pump is designed to fit 1 1/2 inch and 2 inch ID (Inner Diameter) tubing. Tubing is not included.
- Attach the appropriate adapter to the pump's discharge outlet.
- Securely connect your tubing to the adapter. Use a hose clamp (not included) for a watertight seal.
3. Placement
- The Danner Pond Boss Waterfall Pump is a submersible pump and must be fully submerged in water during operation.
- It can be used either vertically or horizontally, making it suitable for placement in skimmers or directly on the pond bottom.
- For optimal performance and to prevent clogging, place the pump on a stable, elevated surface within the pond, away from heavy sediment.
- Consider placing the pump inside the provided Pumpshield mesh bag to add an extra layer of protection against larger debris.

4. Electrical Connection
- The pump operates on 120 Volts AC.
- The power cord length is 16 feet. Ensure the cord is routed safely and is not pinched or damaged.
- Connect the pump to a properly grounded GFCI (Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter) protected outlet. Never operate the pump without GFCI protection.
- The compact plug design is UL approved and fits through 1-inch conduits.
Operation
Once installed, operating the Danner Pond Boss Waterfall Pump is straightforward.
1. Starting the Pump
- Ensure the pump is fully submerged in water.
- Plug the power cord into the GFCI-protected outlet. The pump will start immediately.
2. Performance Characteristics
This pump is designed for high performance, ideal for creating waterfalls up to 15 feet in height, with a maximum pumping height of 23 feet.

Figure 4: Performance chart illustrating the pump's flow rate (GPH) at various head heights (feet). For example, at 0 ft. head, the pump delivers 5,000 GPH, and at 18 ft. head, it delivers 1,680 GPH.
3. Energy Efficiency
The pump is designed for superior energy efficiency, consuming only 230 Watts at 115V/60Hz (2.5 amps). This ensures powerful operation with low energy consumption.

Maintenance
Regular maintenance will extend the life of your pump and ensure consistent performance.
1. Routine Cleaning
- Anti-Clog Design: The pump is designed to pass debris up to 0.25 inches, reducing the frequency of manual cleaning.
- Unique Back Flush Technology: Small debris is flushed out the back, which helps clean and cool the shaft and bearings, contributing to self-cleaning.
- Despite these features, periodic inspection and cleaning are recommended, especially if you notice a reduction in flow.

Figure 7: The anti-clog design allows debris up to 0.25 inches to pass through the discharge, minimizing blockages.
2. Disassembly for Thorough Cleaning
- Safety First: Always unplug the pump from the power source before performing any maintenance.
- The pump is designed for easy maintenance with no tools needed for disassembly.
- Remove the intake screen by gently twisting or unlatching it.
- Access the impeller chamber. The pump features a flex impeller and ceramic shaft & bearings for enhanced reliability.
- Clean the impeller and impeller housing thoroughly with clean water and a soft brush to remove any accumulated debris or mineral deposits.
- Inspect the ceramic shaft and bearings for wear or damage.
- Reassemble the pump, ensuring all parts are securely in place.
