2. Safety Information
Please read and understand all safety instructions before installing or operating this product. Failure to follow these instructions may result in injury or damage to the equipment.
- Always disconnect power to any active equipment before working on network connections.
- Ensure proper grounding for all connected devices.
- Use appropriate tools for installation to prevent damage to the panel or modules.
- Do not expose the patch panel to moisture or extreme temperatures.
- Handle fiber optic cables and modules with care to avoid damage to delicate components.
3. Package Contents
Verify that all items are present in the package. If any items are missing or damaged, contact your supplier immediately.
- Panduit NKFP24Y 24-Port Flat Modular Patch Panel
- Installation Tool (for module termination, if included with specific modules)
- Mounting Screws (typically supplied with rack or purchased separately)
4. Setup and Installation
4.1 Rack Mounting
- Identify an available 1 RU space in your standard TIA/EIA 19-inch equipment rack. For 23-inch racks, an optional extender bracket (sold separately) is required.
- Align the mounting holes on the patch panel with the corresponding holes on the rack rails.
- Secure the patch panel to the rack using appropriate rack screws (not included). Ensure the panel is level and firmly attached.
4.2 Module Installation
The NKFP24Y patch panel is designed to accept Keystone style modules. For Mini-Com modules, please verify compatibility with Panduit documentation or support, as not all Mini-Com modules are compatible with Keystone-style panels.
- Ensure the patch panel is securely mounted.
- Take a compatible Keystone module (e.g., Category-6 UTP, fiber optic, or audio/video).
- Align the module with an empty port on the front of the patch panel. The module should snap into place with a gentle push. Ensure it is fully seated and secure.
- Repeat for all desired ports.
- For module removal, gently press the release tab (if present on the module) or use a small flat-head tool to carefully pry the module out from the front.

5. Operating Instructions
Once the patch panel is installed and modules are in place, it functions as a central connection point for your network cabling.
- Cable Termination: Terminate your network cables (e.g., Category-6 UTP) to the rear of the installed modules according to the module's specific wiring diagram (T568A or T568B). Use a punch-down tool if applicable.
- Front Connections: Connect patch cords from your network devices (switches, servers, workstations) to the front ports of the patch panel.
- Identification: Utilize the port and panel identification features to label each connection clearly. This aids in troubleshooting and future network management.
- Moves, Adds, Changes (MACs): The front-removable faceplates and snap-in modules allow for easy reconfiguration. To change a connection, simply disconnect the patch cord, remove the module if necessary, and reconfigure as required.
6. Maintenance
Regular maintenance helps ensure optimal performance and longevity of your patch panel.
- Cleaning: Periodically clean the front and rear of the patch panel with a soft, dry, lint-free cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.
- Inspection: Visually inspect all connections and modules for any signs of damage, loose connections, or wear.
- Cable Management: Ensure proper cable management practices are followed to prevent strain on connections and maintain airflow within the rack.
7. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your patch panel, consider the following troubleshooting steps:
- No Network Connectivity:
- Verify that all cables are securely connected at both the patch panel and the network device.
- Check the integrity of the patch cords. Try swapping with a known good cable.
- Ensure the module is correctly terminated to the rear cable and fully seated in the patch panel.
- Confirm that the network device (switch, router) port is active and configured correctly.
- Loose Module:
- Gently push the module back into the port until it clicks into place.
- If the module repeatedly comes loose, inspect the module and the patch panel port for damage.
- Module Compatibility:
- This patch panel is designed for Keystone modules. If using Panduit Mini-Com modules, ensure they are specifically designed for Keystone compatibility. Refer to Panduit's official documentation for specific module compatibility.
