4.1 Front Panel

5. Setup

5.1 Connections

Before connecting, ensure the unit is powered off and unplugged from the AC outlet.

1. Antenna Connections:
   • Connect an FM antenna to the FM 75Ω coaxial terminal.
   • Connect an AM loop antenna to the AM terminals.
   • Connect a DAB/DAB+ antenna to the DAB terminal for digital radio reception.
2. Audio Output Connections:
   • Analog Audio: Connect the L/R RCA analog audio outputs to an input on your amplifier or receiver.
   • Digital Audio: For digital audio, connect either the AES/EBU, Optical, or Coaxial digital output to a corresponding digital input on your amplifier or DAC.
3. Network Connection: Connect an Ethernet cable from your router or network switch to the ETHERNET port on the rear panel for internet radio and network streaming functions.
4. AC Power: After all other connections are made, plug the power cable into the AC INLET on the unit and then into a wall outlet.

5.2 Initial Power On

Press the power button on the front panel or remote control. The unit will power on and the display will illuminate. Follow any on-screen prompts for initial setup, such as network configuration.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1 Basic Operation

• Power On/Off: Press the POWER button on the unit or remote.
• Input Selection: Use the TUNER, USB, or NET buttons on the remote to select the desired input source.
• Display Dimmer: Press the DIMMER button on the remote to adjust the display brightness (Normal/Dim/Dark).

6.2 Tuner Operation (FM/MW/DAB+)

1. Press the TUNER button to select the tuner input.
2. Press the MODE button to cycle through FM, MW, and DAB/DAB+ modes.
3. Use the navigation buttons (LEFT/RIGHT) to manually tune frequencies or stations.
4. To store a station as a preset, tune to the desired station, then press and hold one of the numerical buttons (1-9) on the remote until the display confirms storage. The unit supports 40 FM/MW and 40 DAB/DAB+ presets.
5. To recall a preset, simply press the corresponding numerical button.

6.3 Network Functions (Internet Radio, DLNA, AirPlay)

1. Press the NET button to access network functions.
2. Internet Radio: Navigate through the internet radio menu using the navigation buttons to select stations from various services.
3. DLNA: If connected to a home network with DLNA 1.5 certified devices, you can browse and play audio files (MP3, WMA, WMA Lossless, FLAC, WAV, Ogg Vorbis, AAC) stored on your PC or network-attached storage (NAS).
4. AirPlay: For Apple devices (iPod Touch, iPhone, iPad), select the T-4070 as an AirPlay speaker from your device's audio output settings to stream music wirelessly.

6.4 USB Playback

1. Connect an iPod, iPhone, or USB flash drive to the front USB port.
2. Press the USB button to select the USB input.
3. Use the navigation buttons to browse folders and select audio files for playback. The unit supports direct digital connection for iPod/iPhone.

6.5 Onkyo Remote App

Download the Onkyo Remote app for your iPod Touch/iPhone (3rd generation or higher, iOS 4.2 or higher) or Android Phone (OS 2.1 or higher) to control the T-4070 from your mobile device. The app allows for convenient navigation and control of network functions.

7. Maintenance

To maintain the performance and appearance of your unit:

• Cleaning: Wipe the unit with a soft, dry cloth. For stubborn stains, dampen the cloth with a mild detergent solution and wipe gently. Do not use abrasive cloths, thinners, alcohol, or other chemical solvents, as they may damage the finish.
