The COAST HP6 flashlight requires two (2) AA batteries for operation. These batteries are typically included with your purchase.

  1. Unscrew the tail cap of the flashlight by turning it counter-clockwise.
  2. Insert two AA batteries into the battery compartment, ensuring the positive (+) end of each battery faces towards the head of the flashlight.
  3. Carefully re-screw the tail cap back onto the flashlight by turning it clockwise until it is securely tightened. Do not overtighten.

1.2 Initial Inspection

Before first use, inspect the flashlight for any visible damage. Ensure all components are securely attached and that the lens is clear.

2. Operating Instructions

2.1 Power On/Off and Mode Selection

The HP6 features a quick cycle switch located on the tail cap for power control and mode selection.

  • To turn the flashlight ON, press the tail switch completely until it clicks.
  • To cycle between High (170 lumens) and Low (34 lumens) output modes, lightly press the tail switch without clicking it off.
  • To turn the flashlight OFF, press the tail switch completely until it clicks again.

2.2 Pure Beam Focusing Optic System with Fingertip Speed Focus Control

The HP6 allows you to adjust the beam from a broad flood light to a concentrated spot beam.

  • To adjust the beam, slide the head of the flashlight forward or backward. Sliding forward typically narrows the beam to a spot, while sliding backward widens it to a flood.
  • The Pure Beam Focusing Optic System ensures consistent beam quality without dark rings, providing a clear spot with an outer ring of flood light.

2.3 Beam Lock System

Once your desired beam focus is achieved, the Beam Lock System allows you to secure the focus setting.

  • To engage the Beam Lock, twist the head of the flashlight slightly after adjusting the focus. This will lock the head in place, preventing accidental changes to the beam pattern.
  • To disengage, twist the head in the opposite direction to unlock and allow for further focus adjustments.

3. Maintenance

3.1 Cleaning

To maintain optimal performance, keep the flashlight clean. Wipe the exterior with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.

3.2 Battery Replacement

Replace batteries when the light output diminishes significantly. Follow the battery installation steps outlined in Section 1.1.

3.3 Storage

Store the flashlight in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. For long-term storage (over 30 days), remove the batteries to prevent leakage and potential damage to the flashlight.

3.4 Water Resistance

The HP6 is designed with a rubberized O-ring for water resistance, meeting ANSI/FL1 standards. It is resistant to splashes and light rain but is not intended for submersion in water.

4. Troubleshooting

  • Flashlight not turning on:
Ensure batteries are inserted correctly with the positive (+) end facing the head. Check if batteries are depleted and replace them if necessary. Ensure the tail cap is fully tightened.
  • Dim light output:
This typically indicates low battery power. Replace both AA batteries with fresh ones.
  • Focus mechanism is stiff or not working smoothly:
Inspect the sliding head for any dirt or debris that might be obstructing its movement. Clean the area if needed. Avoid forcing the mechanism.
