Securitron DK-12 Digital Keypad System User Manual

Model: DK-12

1. Introduction

The Securitron DK-12 is a standalone digital keypad system designed for access control in lower security applications, such as traffic control. This system features a single-gang, satin stainless steel plate with illuminated keys and supports up to 99 user codes. It is primarily intended for indoor use, though an optional rain cover and gasketed backbox can extend its reliability to exterior areas not directly exposed to harsh weather.

This manual provides detailed instructions for the installation, programming, and operation of the DK-12 keypad system.

3. Setup and Installation

3.1 Mounting

The DK-12 keypad is designed for single-gang mounting. It can be installed using simple hand tools. Ensure the mounting surface is flat and secure. For indoor applications, standard electrical box mounting is suitable. For outdoor applications not directly exposed to rain or snow, consider using the optional WCC rain cover and WBB gasketed backbox for enhanced protection.

3.2 Electrical Connections

The DK-12 accepts 12V or 24 VAC/DC power input. Connect the power supply to the designated terminals on the circuit board. Ensure correct polarity for DC connections. The unit features a 5 Amp SPDT timed control relay output for connecting to a locking device (fail-secure or fail-safe configurable) and a Request to Exit (REX) input.

Refer to the wiring diagram on the back of the unit (Figure 2) for specific terminal assignments:

Always disconnect power before making any wiring connections.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Programming User Codes

The DK-12 allows for easy programming of up to 99 user codes directly from the keypad. Specific programming steps are typically detailed in the quick start guide included with the product. Generally, programming involves entering a master code, followed by a command to add a new user code, and then the new user code itself.

The red, green, and yellow LEDs provide visual feedback during programming and operation:

4.2 Passage Mode

Passage mode allows the controlled access point to remain unlocked for a specified period, or until a specific command is entered. This is useful for periods of high traffic where continuous access is required without entering a code for each entry.

4.3 Lockout Mode

Lockout mode disables all user codes, preventing access through the keypad. This mode is typically activated for enhanced security during specific times or events.

4.4 Audible Keystroke Echo

The DK-12 features a configurable audible keystroke echo. This provides an audible confirmation for each key press. This feature can be enabled or disabled during programming to suit user preference.

5. Maintenance

The Securitron DK-12 keypad system requires minimal maintenance. Periodically inspect the keypad for any signs of wear or damage. Clean the surface with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents, as these can damage the finish or electronic components. Ensure all wiring connections remain secure.

6. Troubleshooting

For persistent issues, refer to the full technical manual or contact Securitron technical support.
