Maintenance and Cleaning

Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance and longevity of your espresso machine.

Daily Cleaning

  • Drip Tray: Empty and clean the removable drip tray daily to prevent overflow and maintain hygiene.
  • Brewing Unit: The brewing system is compact and removable for easy cleaning. Rinse it under running water at least once a week.
  • Milk Container: After each use, detach the milk container and rinse all components. It can be stored in the refrigerator. Perform a thorough cleaning of the milk container components regularly.
  • Coffee Spouts: Wipe the coffee spouts with a damp cloth.

Descaling

  • The machine will indicate when descaling is required via the digital display.
  • Use only De'Longhi descaling solution. Follow the instructions provided with the descaler and in the machine's detailed manual for the descaling process.
  • Regular descaling is crucial to prevent limescale buildup, which can affect machine performance and coffee taste.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your machine, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

  • Inadequate Pressure/Weak Coffee: This can be caused by too coarse a grind, too little coffee, or insufficiently tamping the grounds before brewing. Adjust the grinder setting to a finer level or ensure adequate coffee quantity.
  • Espresso Volume Variation: The amount of espresso extracted will vary depending on the grind size and amount. Reprogramming may be needed when the size and amount are adjusted.
  • Lukewarm Coffee/Milk: Ensure the machine is fully preheated. For milk, ensure the milk container is properly attached and the milk is cold. You may need to adjust temperature settings in the programmable menu.
  • Grinder Malfunction: If the grinder makes unusual noises or fails to grind, check for foreign objects in the bean hopper. If the issue persists, contact customer support.
  • Error Messages on Display: Refer to the detailed instruction manual for specific error codes and their corresponding troubleshooting steps.
