Setup and Assembly

Operating Instructions

Starting the Engine

1. Primer Bulb: Press the primer bulb several times until fuel is visible and flowing freely in the return line.
2. Choke Lever: Move the choke lever to the "FULL CHOKE" position.
3. Ignition Switch: Ensure the ignition switch is in the "ON" position.
4. Starting Rope: Hold the trimmer firmly on the ground. Pull the starter rope with a smooth, steady motion until the engine fires (usually 1-3 pulls).
5. Partial Choke: Once the engine fires, move the choke lever to the "HALF CHOKE" position.
6. Warm-up: Pull the starter rope again until the engine starts and runs. Allow the engine to warm up for 30-60 seconds.
7. Run Position: Move the choke lever to the "RUN" position. The engine should now run smoothly.

Trimming Techniques

• Sweeping Motion: Use a side-to-side sweeping motion to cut grass and weeds.
• Cutting Height: Maintain a consistent cutting height by keeping the trimmer head level with the ground.
• Edging: For edging, tilt the trimmer head to a vertical position and walk along the edge of sidewalks or driveways.
• Line Advancement: If the trimmer line becomes too short, tap the trimmer head gently on the ground while the engine is running at full throttle to advance more line (Tap-and-Go system).

Stopping the Engine

To stop the engine, simply move the ignition switch to the "OFF" position.

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your ECHO SRM-225I string trimmer. Always turn off the engine and allow it to cool before performing any maintenance.

• Air Filter: Clean the air filter regularly, especially in dusty conditions. Remove the filter cover, clean the filter element with warm, soapy water, rinse, and allow to dry completely before reinstallation. Replace if damaged.
