2. Important Safety Information
Please read and understand all safety instructions before using the appliance. Failure to follow these instructions may result in electric shock, fire, or serious injury.
- Electrical Safety: Ensure the voltage rating on the machine matches your local power supply (240 Volts). Do not immerse the machine, cord, or plug in water or other liquids. Do not operate the machine with a damaged cord or plug.
- Hot Surfaces: The machine produces hot water and steam. Avoid contact with hot surfaces, especially the brew head and steam wand, during and after operation. Use handles and knobs.
- Children and Pets: Keep the appliance out of reach of children and pets. Close supervision is necessary when the appliance is used near children.
- Intended Use: This machine is designed for household use only for preparing coffee and frothing milk. Do not use it for any other purpose.
- Maintenance: Unplug the machine from the power outlet before cleaning or performing any maintenance. Allow the machine to cool down completely before handling hot parts.
3. Package Contents

4. Setup and First Use
4.1 Unpacking and Placement
- Remove all packaging materials from the machine.
- Place the machine on a stable, flat, and heat-resistant surface, away from water sources and heat.
- Ensure there is adequate space around the machine for ventilation and access to the water reservoir and drip tray.
4.2 Initial Cleaning
- Wash the water reservoir, drip tray, and grate with warm soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry.
- Wipe the exterior of the machine with a damp cloth.
4.3 Filling the Water Reservoir
- Remove the water reservoir from the back of the machine.
- Fill the reservoir with fresh, cold drinking water up to the MAX fill line. Do not use sparkling water or other liquids.
- Place the reservoir back into the machine, ensuring it is seated correctly.
4.4 Power Connection and Priming
- Plug the power cord into a grounded electrical outlet.
- Press the power button (⏻) on the control panel. The machine will begin to heat up.
- Once heated (indicator light stable), place a cup under the coffee spout.
- Press the espresso button (☕) to dispense hot water. Repeat this process 2-3 times to prime the system and rinse internal components.
5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Brewing Espresso
- Ensure the machine is powered on and heated.
- Lift the capsule lever and insert one illy iperEspresso capsule into the capsule chamber. Close the lever firmly.
- Place your espresso cup on the drip tray under the coffee spout.
- Press the desired espresso button (e.g., single shot or double shot, if available). The machine will automatically brew and stop.
- After brewing, lift the capsule lever to eject the used capsule into the collection drawer.

5.2 Using the Pannarello Steam Wand for Milk Frothing
- Fill a stainless steel frothing pitcher with cold milk (dairy or non-dairy) to just below the spout.
- Press the steam button (☕ with steam icon) on the control panel. Wait for the steam indicator light to become stable, indicating the machine is ready for steaming.
- Position the tip of the Pannarello steam wand just below the surface of the milk.
- Open the steam knob/lever to release steam. Move the pitcher up and down to create foam.
- Once desired foam consistency is achieved, close the steam knob/lever and remove the pitcher.
- Immediately wipe the steam wand with a damp cloth to prevent milk residue from drying. Purge a small amount of steam into an empty cup to clear any internal milk residue.

5.3 Programmable Volume and Power Save Mode
- Programmable Volume: To customize your espresso volume, press and hold the desired espresso button until the desired amount of coffee is dispensed, then release. The machine will remember this setting for future brews.
- Power Save Mode: The machine is equipped with a power save mode to conserve energy. It will automatically enter this mode after a period of inactivity. To reactivate, simply press any button.
6. Maintenance and Cleaning
Regular cleaning and maintenance will extend the life of your machine and ensure consistent coffee quality.
6.1 Daily Cleaning
- Drip Tray and Capsule Drawer: Empty and rinse the drip tray and used capsule drawer daily. Wash with warm soapy water, rinse, and dry.
- Water Reservoir: Rinse the water reservoir daily and refill with fresh water.
- Steam Wand: As mentioned in section 5.2, wipe the steam wand immediately after each use and purge steam to clear residue.
- Exterior: Wipe the exterior of the machine with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
6.2 Descaling
Over time, mineral deposits (limescale) can build up inside the machine, affecting performance. Descale your machine regularly, depending on water hardness and usage (e.g., every 3-6 months). Refer to the illy descaling solution instructions for the specific procedure.
- Empty the water reservoir and fill it with the descaling solution as per the product instructions.
- Place a large container under the coffee spout and steam wand.
- Follow the descaling cycle instructions provided with your descaling solution or machine. This typically involves running the solution through the coffee and steam circuits.
- After descaling, rinse the water reservoir thoroughly and fill it with fresh water. Run several cycles of fresh water through the machine to rinse out any remaining descaling solution.
7. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your machine, consult the table below before contacting customer support.
