INTEX C530 Krystal Clear Cartridge Filter Pump

Model: 28603EG

Product Overview

The INTEX C530 Krystal Clear Cartridge Filter Pump is designed to circulate and filter water in above-ground pools, ensuring clean and refreshing water. It features a pump flow rate of 530 gallons per hour (2,006 liters per hour) and a system flow rate of 475 gallons per hour (1,798 liters per hour), making it suitable for Intex pools up to 3,800 gallons with 1.25-inch (32mm) diameter hose fittings. This pump utilizes Hydro Aeration Technology for improved circulation, filtration, and water clarity.

Important Safety Information

Always read, understand, and follow all instructions carefully before installing and using this product. Ensure the pump is connected to a grounded type receptacle protected by a Class A ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI). Do not operate the pump if the power cord or plug is damaged. Never allow children to operate the pump without adult supervision. This pump is for use with storable above-ground pools only and is not intended for permanently installed pools.

Setup and Installation

Partial assembly is required. Follow these steps for proper installation:

  1. Unpack Components: Carefully remove all parts from the packaging. Verify all components are present: filter pump unit, two 1.25-inch (32mm) diameter hoses with clamps, Hydro Aeration Technology inlet fitting, convenient air release valve, and power cord.
  2. Position the Pump: Place the filter pump on a firm, level surface near the pool. Ensure it is at least 6 feet (1.8 meters) away from the pool edge and protected from direct sunlight and rain.
  3. Connect Hoses: Attach the two 1.25-inch (32mm) diameter hoses to the pump's inlet and outlet ports using the provided clamps. Securely tighten all connections to prevent leaks.
  4. Connect to Pool: Attach the other ends of the hoses to the corresponding inlet and outlet fittings on your above-ground pool. The pump is designed for pools with 1.25-inch (32mm) diameter hose connections.
  5. Hydro Aeration Inlet: Install the Hydro Aeration Technology inlet fitting into the pool's return fitting. This technology enhances water circulation and filtration.
  6. Fill Pool with Water: Ensure the pool is filled with water to the recommended level before operating the pump.

Operating Instructions

Once installed, operating the pump is straightforward:

  1. Priming the Pump: Before plugging in, open the air release valve on top of the filter pump. Water will begin to fill the filter housing. Once a steady stream of water flows from the air release valve, close the valve. This indicates the pump is primed.
  2. Power On: Plug the pump into a properly grounded GFCI outlet. The pump will begin circulating and filtering the pool water.
  3. Daily Operation: For optimal water clarity, operate the pump daily for 2-10 hours, depending on pool size and usage. Refer to the specifications for recommended run times for your pool volume.
  4. Filter Gauge: The pump features a cartridge gauge (if applicable to your model) that indicates when the filter needs cleaning or replacement. A green indicator means the filter is good, yellow suggests cleaning, and red indicates replacement is needed.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and efficiency of your filter pump:

  • Filter Cartridge Cleaning: The C530 Krystal Clear Cartridge uses Type A filter cartridges (Item #29000E). These should be changed every 2 weeks. To clean, unplug the pump, remove the top cover, take out the cartridge, and rinse it thoroughly with a garden hose.
  • Filter Cartridge Replacement: If the cartridge remains dirty after cleaning or if the filter gauge consistently shows red, replace it with a new Type A cartridge.
  • Sediment Release: Periodically check the sediment release valve at the bottom of the pump housing. Open it to drain any accumulated sediment.
  • Winterization: Before storing for the winter, ensure the pump is completely drained and dry. Store it in a dry, protected area.
