4. Setup

4.1. Battery Installation

  1. Locate the battery compartment cover on the back of the unit.
  2. Remove the cover by sliding or unscrewing it.
  3. Insert one new 9V alkaline battery, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
  4. Replace the battery compartment cover securely to maintain water resistance.

Note: The unit will typically power on and display the current time or a default setting after battery installation.

4.2. Connecting to Faucet

  1. Ensure your outdoor faucet is turned off.
  2. Thread the faucet connector of the Toro ttt-9v programmer onto your outdoor faucet. Hand-tighten only; do not overtighten.
  3. Connect your garden hose or irrigation system to the outlet connector at the bottom of the programmer.
  4. Turn on your outdoor faucet fully. The programmer is designed to handle the water pressure.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1. Setting Current Time and Day

  1. Press the Time button. The hour display will flash.
  2. Use the Hour button to adjust the hour.
  3. Press the Min button to adjust the minutes.
  4. Press the Day button to set the current day of the week.
  5. Press Esc or wait a few seconds for the settings to save.

5.2. Programming Automatic Watering Schedules

The Toro ttt-9v allows up to 8 watering cycles per day. You can select specific days and durations for each cycle.

  1. Press the Pro (Program) button to enter programming mode. The display will show the first program number (e.g., P1).
  2. Use the Hour and Min buttons to set the desired start time for the watering cycle.
  3. Press the Day button to select the days of the week for this program. You can cycle through individual days, weekdays, weekends, or all days.
  4. Press Pro again to move to the duration setting. Use the Hour and Min buttons to set the watering duration (e.g., 30 minutes).
  5. Press Pro to save the current program and move to the next program number (P2, P3, etc.).
  6. Repeat steps 2-5 for additional watering cycles.
  7. Once all desired programs are set, press Esc to exit programming mode.

6.1. Battery Replacement

When the 'Batt.L' indicator appears on the LCD screen, it's time to replace the battery. Follow the battery installation steps in Section 4.1. Replace the battery annually, even if the indicator has not appeared, to ensure reliable operation.

6.2. Cleaning

Clean the exterior of the programmer with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents. Ensure the battery compartment and connectors are free of dirt and debris.

6.3. Winterization

Before the first frost or during periods of freezing temperatures, it is crucial to disconnect the watering programmer from the faucet. Remove the 9V alkaline battery and store the unit indoors in a dry, temperate place. This prevents damage to the internal components and battery connectors caused by freezing water or condensation.

7. Troubleshooting

Problem Possible Cause Solution
Unit does not turn on or display is blank. Dead or incorrectly installed battery. Replace the 9V alkaline battery, ensuring correct polarity.
Watering does not start at programmed time. Unit is in Off or Manual mode; incorrect programming; low water pressure; faucet is off. Ensure unit is in Auto mode. Verify programming settings (time, duration, days). Check water supply and faucet.
Watering does not stop. Stuck valve; programming error. Press Off button. Check programming duration. If issue persists, disconnect from faucet and contact support.
Water leaks from connections. Loose connection; damaged washer. Ensure connections are hand-tight. Check and replace rubber washers if damaged.
