Introduction

Setup

1. Battery Installation

The keyboard requires batteries for operation. Locate the battery compartment on the underside of the keyboard. Insert the required batteries, ensuring correct polarity. The front battery indicator light will illuminate briefly upon successful installation or when the keyboard is powered on.

2. Powering On/Off

To power on the keyboard, slide the ON/OFF switch located on the keyboard to the ON position. To power off, slide the switch to the OFF position. Powering off the keyboard when not in use helps conserve battery life.

3. Bluetooth Pairing

Follow these steps to pair your Merkury Innovations Bluetooth Keyboard with your device (iPad, iPhone, iPod, Android, or Mac OS device):

1. Ensure the keyboard is powered on and the battery indicator light is active.
2. On your device, navigate to the Settings menu.
3. Select Bluetooth and ensure Bluetooth is turned ON.
4. Your device will begin searching for nearby Bluetooth devices. Look for "Merkury Keyboard" or a similar name in the list of available devices.
5. Select the keyboard from the list. Your device may display a pairing code.
6. Type the displayed pairing code on your Merkury Innovations Bluetooth Keyboard and press the Enter key.
7. Once successfully paired, your device will indicate that the keyboard is connected.

Note: If pairing fails, ensure the keyboard is within range (typically up to 10 meters or 33 feet) and fully charged. You may need to turn off and on both the keyboard and your device's Bluetooth, then retry the pairing process.

Operating Instructions

Basic Typing

Once paired, the keyboard functions like a standard computer keyboard. Simply open any text input application on your device and begin typing. The input will appear on your device's screen.

Special Function Keys

The Merkury Innovations Bluetooth Keyboard includes several special function keys designed to enhance productivity with compatible devices. These keys are typically located in the top row of the keyboard and may require pressing the Fn key in combination with another key to activate their secondary function.

Note that the first keystroke after waking from sleep mode may not register as the keyboard re-establishes connection with your device. Allow a moment for the connection to fully re-engage before continuing to type.

Cleaning

To clean the keyboard, gently wipe the surface with a soft, dry, lint-free cloth. For stubborn dirt, slightly dampen the cloth with water or a mild, non-abrasive cleaning solution. Avoid using harsh chemicals, solvents, or abrasive materials, as these can damage the keyboard's finish or internal components. Do not immerse the keyboard in water or any liquid.

Battery Replacement

When the battery indicator light consistently shows low power or the keyboard's performance degrades, it is time to replace the batteries. Refer to the battery installation section for instructions on how to open the battery compartment and replace the batteries.
