Introduction
This manual provides instructions for the safe and efficient operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of your Mr. Coffee 12-Cup Programmable Coffee Maker. Please read all instructions carefully before use.
Important Safety Information
When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and/or injury to persons, including the following:
- Read all instructions.
- Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles or knobs.
- To protect against electric shock, do not place cord, plugs, or appliance in water or other liquid.
- Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near children.
- Unplug from outlet when not in use and before cleaning. Allow to cool before putting on or taking off parts, and before cleaning the appliance.
- Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug or after the appliance malfunctions, or has been damaged in any manner. Return appliance to the nearest authorized service facility for examination, repair, or adjustment.
- The use of accessory attachments not recommended by the appliance manufacturer may result in fire, electric shock, or injury to persons.
- Do not use outdoors.
- Do not let cord hang over edge of table or counter, or touch hot surfaces.
- Do not place on or near a hot gas or electric burner, or in a heated oven.
- Always attach plug to appliance first, then plug cord into the wall outlet. To disconnect, turn any control to "off", then remove plug from wall outlet.
- Do not use appliance for other than intended use.
What's in the Box
Your Mr. Coffee 12-Cup Programmable Coffee Maker package should include the following components:

Setup
Before first use, it is recommended to clean all removable parts and run a brewing cycle with water only to prime the system.
- Unpack all components and remove any packaging materials.
- Wash the carafe, carafe cover, and filter basket in warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly.
- Place the clean carafe on the warming plate.
- Fill the water reservoir with fresh, cold water up to the 12-cup mark.
- Place an empty paper filter (or reusable filter, if applicable) into the filter basket and close the lid.
- Plug the coffee maker into a standard electrical outlet.
- Press the "On" button to run a full brewing cycle with water only. Discard the water after the cycle is complete.

Operating Instructions
Brewing Coffee Immediately
- Ensure the coffee maker is plugged in and the carafe is on the warming plate.
- Open the top lid and fill the water reservoir with desired amount of fresh, cold water. Use the water level markings on the side of the reservoir as a guide.
- Place a paper filter (or reusable filter) into the filter basket.
- Add the desired amount of ground coffee into the filter. A general guideline is 1 tablespoon of coffee per cup.
- Close the top lid securely.
- Press the "On" button. The indicator light will illuminate, and brewing will begin.
- The "Grab-A-Cup Auto Pause" feature allows you to temporarily remove the carafe during brewing to pour a cup. Replace the carafe within 30 seconds to prevent overflow.
- Once brewing is complete, the coffee maker will automatically keep the coffee warm for 2 hours before shutting off.

Setting the Programmable Timer
The programmable timer allows you to set the coffee maker to brew at a specific time up to 24 hours in advance.
- First, set the current time: Press the "Clock" button (or the button that sets the clock, which may be combined with "Set Delay"). Use the "Hour" and "Min" buttons to adjust the current time. Ensure AM/PM is correct.
- To set the auto-brew time: Press the "Set Delay" button (or the button that sets the timer, which may be combined with "Clock"). The indicator light for the timer will illuminate.
- Use the "Hour" and "Min" buttons to set the desired brew time. Ensure AM/PM is correct for the programmed brew time.
- Once the desired time is set, the display will revert to the current time, and the timer indicator light will remain on, indicating the delay brew is active.
- Ensure the water reservoir is filled and the filter basket contains coffee grounds before activating the delay brew.
Care and Maintenance
Daily Cleaning
- Unplug the coffee maker and allow it to cool completely.
- Remove the filter basket and discard the used coffee grounds and filter.
- Wash the carafe, carafe cover, and filter basket in warm, soapy water. These parts are dishwasher safe (top rack recommended).
- Wipe the exterior of the coffee maker with a soft, damp cloth. Do not immerse the coffee maker in water.
Decalcifying (Monthly or as Needed)
Mineral deposits from water can build up in your coffee maker and affect its performance. Decalcify regularly to maintain optimal brewing.
- Pour 4 cups of undiluted white household vinegar into the water reservoir.
- Place an empty paper filter (or reusable filter) into the filter basket.
- Place the empty carafe on the warming plate.
- Press the "On" button and allow half of the vinegar solution to brew into the carafe.
- Press the "Off" button and let the coffee maker soak for 30 minutes.
- After 30 minutes, press the "On" button and allow the remaining vinegar solution to brew through.
- Discard the vinegar solution from the carafe and rinse the carafe thoroughly.
- Fill the water reservoir with fresh, cold water and run two full brewing cycles with water only to rinse out any remaining vinegar.
Troubleshooting
If your coffee maker is not functioning as expected, please refer to the following common issues and solutions:
