Setup and Installation

Proper installation is crucial for optimal sound performance. Please follow these steps carefully.

System Requirements

  • Compatible with any home audio receiver or amplifier with raw speaker wire outputs.
  • Amplifier power should be between 10 and 200 watts per channel.
  • Use CL3 certified in-wall speaker wire to connect your receiver to the speakers.

Speaker Location Guide

To achieve the best performance from your Theater Solutions speakers, it is important to carefully select the location for installation. These speakers are ideal for discreet, individual, or multi-room installations in various environments, including bathrooms, kitchens, and saunas, due to their moisture-resistant design.

Installation Steps

  1. Prepare the Opening: Use the provided cut-out template to mark the desired location on your drywall. Ensure there are no studs, electrical wires, or plumbing behind the wall in the chosen area.Cut-out template for Theater Solutions TS50W speaker installation, showing instructions to use the inside edge for marking.

  2. Cut the Opening: Carefully cut along the marked line using a drywall saw.
  3. Run Speaker Wires: Route CL3 rated speaker wire from your amplifier/receiver to the speaker opening. Leave enough slack for easy connection.
  4. Connect Speaker Wires: Connect the speaker wires to the spring-loaded raw wire connections on the back of the speaker. Ensure correct polarity (+ to + and - to -).Rear view of the Theater Solutions TS50W speaker, showing the crossover board, speaker terminals, and the 5.25-inch woofer.

  5. Mount the Speaker: Insert the speaker into the cut-out opening. The press-lock mounting system will firmly secure the speaker to the drywall. Tighten the mounting screws (usually located on the front baffle) until the speaker is snug against the wall. Tweeter Adjustment

The 1-inch pivoting silk dome tweeter can be adjusted to direct sound towards the listening area, optimizing sound dispersion for your specific room layout.

Operating Instructions

Once installed, your Theater Solutions TS50W speakers operate as passive speakers, driven by your home audio receiver or amplifier.

  • Power On: Turn on your amplifier/receiver.
  • Source Selection: Select the desired audio source (e.g., CD player, streaming device, TV).
  • Volume Control: Adjust the volume using your amplifier/receiver's controls. Start at a low volume and gradually increase to a comfortable listening level.
  • Sound Optimization: If your receiver has room correction features, run the calibration process to optimize the sound for your listening environment.

Maintenance

Your Theater Solutions TS50W speakers are designed for durability and require minimal maintenance.

  • Cleaning: Gently wipe the grilles and speaker frames with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
  • Grille Painting: If you choose to paint the grilles, ensure they are clean and dry. Use a fine-mist spray paint for an even finish. Allow to dry completely before reattaching.
  • Moisture: While designed to be moisture-resistant, avoid direct exposure to water or excessive humidity.

Troubleshooting

If you experience issues with your speakers, refer to the following common solutions:

  • No Sound:
    • Check all speaker wire connections at both the speaker and the amplifier/receiver. Ensure correct polarity.
    • Verify that the amplifier/receiver is powered on and the correct input source is selected.
    • Test with another audio source or speaker if possible to isolate the problem.
  • Distorted Sound:
    • Reduce the volume on your amplifier/receiver. Overdriving the speakers can cause distortion.
    • Check speaker wire connections for loose strands or short circuits.
    • Ensure your amplifier's power output is within the recommended range (10-200 watts per channel).
  • Uneven Sound:
    • Check the balance settings on your amplifier/receiver.
    • Ensure both speakers are connected with correct polarity.
    • Adjust the pivoting tweeter to direct sound towards the listening area.
