1. Safety Information

Please observe the following safety guidelines to ensure safe operation and prevent damage to the product or injury to yourself.

  • Weight Capacity: Do not exceed the maximum weight capacity of 400 lbs (evenly distributed). Overloading can cause structural failure and potential injury.
  • Assembly: Ensure all components are securely assembled before use. Improper assembly can lead to instability.
  • Casters: Always engage the locking brakes on the casters when the cart needs to remain stationary to prevent unintended movement.
  • Surface: Use the cart on flat, stable surfaces. Avoid uneven terrain or inclines that could cause the cart to tip.
  • Proposition 65 Warning: This product may contain chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm. Wash hands after handling.

2. Package Contents

Verify that all components are present before beginning assembly. If any parts are missing or damaged, please contact Luxor customer support.

3. Assembly Instructions

Assembly of the Luxor 2 Shelf Utility Cart requires a rubber mallet (not included).

  1. Attach Legs to Bottom Shelf: Carefully align the four legs with the designated slots on the underside of the bottom shelf. Ensure the leg with the integrated handle slot is positioned correctly if you intend to use the handle on the top shelf. Use a rubber mallet to gently tap each leg into place until fully seated. The fit is designed to be snug for stability.
  2. Insert Casters: Insert the stem of each caster into the bottom of each leg. Push firmly until the casters click into place. Ensure the two casters with locking brakes are positioned on the same side for easier access.
  3. Attach Top Shelf: Align the top shelf with the upper ends of the four legs. Ensure the ergonomic push handle is facing the desired direction. Use a rubber mallet to gently tap the top shelf onto the legs until it is fully seated and secure.
  4. Final Check: Verify that all legs and shelves are securely connected and that the casters rotate freely.

4. Operating Instructions

The Luxor 2 Shelf Utility Cart is designed for versatile use in various environments.

  • Loading the Cart: Place items evenly distributed across the shelves. The 0.25-inch retaining lip helps secure items during transport. Do not concentrate heavy loads in one area.
  • Moving the Cart: Use the ergonomic push handle molded into the top shelf to maneuver the cart. Ensure the locking brakes are disengaged before moving.
  • Securing the Cart: To keep the cart stationary, push down on the levers of the two locking casters until they are engaged. To release, lift the levers.

5. Maintenance

Regular maintenance will prolong the life and functionality of your utility cart.

  • Cleaning: Wipe down the thermoplastic resin shelves and legs with a damp cloth and mild detergent. Avoid abrasive cleaners that could damage the surface. The material is designed not to stain, scratch, dent, or rust.
  • Caster Inspection: Periodically check the casters for debris (hair, lint, etc.) that may impede movement. Clean as necessary. Ensure casters are securely attached.
  • Structural Check: Occasionally inspect all connections to ensure they remain tight and secure.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your utility cart, refer to the following common solutions.

  • Difficulty Assembling Legs/Shelves: The connections are designed for a tight fit. Ensure proper alignment and use a rubber mallet to gently tap components into place. Do not use excessive force or metal hammers, which could cause damage.
  • Cart is Unstable: Verify that all legs are fully seated into both shelves. Ensure casters are properly inserted. Check that the cart is on a level surface.
  • Casters Not Rolling Smoothly: Inspect casters for any obstructions like dirt or debris. Clean them thoroughly. Ensure the locking brakes are fully disengaged.
  • Shelves Sagging Under Load: While the cart has a stated capacity of 400 lbs, ensure the weight is evenly distributed. Concentrated heavy loads in a small area may cause localized sagging. If sagging occurs with loads significantly below the stated capacity, contact customer support.
