Setup
1. Battery Installation
The monitor requires 4 "AA" batteries (not included). Ensure correct polarity when inserting the batteries into the compartment located on the back of the unit.
- Open the battery cover on the back of the monitor.
- Insert four "AA" batteries, matching the (+) and (-) symbols.
- Close the battery cover securely.
2. Cuff Application
Proper cuff placement is crucial for accurate readings. The monitor comes with an adult arm cuff designed for arm circumferences between 11.8 inches (30 cm) and 16.5 inches (42 cm).

Image: Detailed information on the Adult Arm Cuff, including its size range (11.8 in. - 16.5 in.), D-ring style, soft fabric, and latex-free material. Also provides instructions on how to measure arm circumference for proper cuff sizing.
- Ensure the air tube is connected securely to the monitor's air jack.
- Slide the end of the cuff furthest from the air tube through the metal D-ring to form a loop. The smooth cloth side should be on the inside of the loop.
- Place your left arm through the cuff loop. The bottom edge of the cuff should be approximately 0.5 to 1 inch (1-2 cm) above your elbow. The air tube should run down the inside of your arm.
- Pull the end of the cuff until it is snug around your arm. Secure it with the hook and loop fastener. The cuff should be snug enough that you can barely slide two fingers under the top edge.
3. Proper Measurement Position
- Sit comfortably with your back supported and feet flat on the floor.
- Rest your arm on a table or flat surface so that the cuff is at heart level.
- Remain still and silent during the measurement. Avoid talking or moving.
- Take measurements at the same time each day for consistent results.
Operating Instructions
Taking a Measurement
The SmartHeart monitor features convenient one-button operation.

Image: A close-up view of the SmartHeart monitor's digital display, showing example readings for Systolic (SYS), Diastolic (DIA), and Pulse, along with the hypertension indicator.
- Once the cuff is correctly applied and you are in the proper position, press the START button.
- The cuff will automatically inflate. The monitor uses Intelligent Inflation Technology to determine the optimal inflation level for a faster and more comfortable measurement.
- Once inflation is complete, the monitor will slowly deflate, and your systolic pressure (SYS), diastolic pressure (DIA), and pulse rate will be displayed on the screen.
- The measurement will automatically be stored in the monitor's memory.
- Press the START button again to turn off the monitor, or it will automatically shut off after one minute of inactivity.

Understanding Your Readings
- SYS (Systolic Pressure): The top number, which indicates the pressure in your arteries when your heart beats.
- DIA (Diastolic Pressure): The bottom number, which indicates the pressure in your arteries between beats.
- PULSE: Your heart rate, measured in beats per minute.
- Hypertension Indicator: The monitor features a color-coded indicator on the left side of the display to classify your blood pressure reading according to WHO (World Health Organization) guidelines. Green indicates normal, yellow indicates pre-hypertension, and red indicates hypertension.
- Irregular Heartbeat Detection: If an irregular heartbeat is detected during the measurement, a symbol will appear on the display. If this symbol appears frequently, consult your physician.
Memory Function
The SmartHeart monitor stores up to 60 readings for two users (120 total readings), including date and time stamps. To recall past measurements:
- Press the MEM button when the monitor is off.
- The most recent reading will be displayed first.
- Press the MEM button repeatedly to scroll through previous readings.
Maintenance
- Cleaning: Wipe the monitor and cuff with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or immerse the unit in water.
- Storage: Store the device in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. If not using for an extended period, remove the batteries.
- Battery Replacement: When the low battery indicator appears on the display, replace all four "AA" batteries with new ones. Do not mix old and new batteries.
- Cuff Care: The cuff is designed for durability. Avoid excessive bending or creasing of the air tube. Only use approved SmartHeart brand cuffs with this model.
